Aaron Taylor is a moron:

For the love of God, why? :smash:

I don't know if that assbag was worse as a linebacker or a commentator. Either way, he has no place anywhere in football.

Have any of you guys paid attention to anything that Trev has said over the last couple of years? Yeah, I know that he was as mouthpiece for ESPN, but he started to stop ranting so much, and put a little bit of substance behind what he had to say. He's not the greatest, but he's not exactly the satan character that some describe him as.....at least anymore.

The real dickwad is Mark May.

Amen. I think some people got too uptight about Trev's Iowa/Brad Banks fetish in 2002. Big deal. He's an analyst, he gave his opinion, and he was wrong. Hell, when he was at CBS in the 90s everyone complained he was some OSU homer -- he was driving the bandwagon saying Tennessee didn't belong in the national title game in '98, that it should've been OSU. Besides, I thought he acquitted himself rather well with his glowing, post-Fiesta Bowl essay on ESPN's old bowl site. His blurb to the effect of "I was wrong. Miami could never beat OSU with the way they prepared" brought a tear to my eye.

How quickly people forget, these two occassions were only four years apart.

All these guys are only annoying if you listen to them. There isn't a talking head alive that can piss me off with the mute button on.

Don't be so sure of yourself. Put these two guys in a room together with a video camera, and just watch the tv.

The choices aren't exactly compelling. No sportscaster is going to satisfy the fans of any team all the time. What I disliked about Alberts wasn't his commentary on why he thought one team was better than another. He is entitled to his opinion and paid to deliver it. My concern was that he took information Clarett was spilling about Ohio State, used it even when he knew the NCAA investigated and found it was untrue, and harmed a lot of people's lives that I happen to think very highly of. That's my major concern about Mark May as well.

I'm with Jaxbuck, I don't pay much attention to what any of them say, except I think Herbie often has some good insights and that's not because I am a homer for him. But when they use their position to attack people without cause, it's "whole 'nother thing".

Besides, construction is a nice outdoor activity that gets you out into the fresh air and I think it's in Trev's interest to be involved there, after so many years of rebreathing the pollution he spread.

Let me chime in and offer my perspective on Trev Alberts taking AT's spot on ABC. First thing is first, thanks AT for the few years you held that seat. You did bring a different perspective to the analysis of saturday football.

Trev Alberts highly unlikely to replace AT and here is why. Remember why Trev quit ESPN? He wanted more exposure and felt he shouldve been part of the A team on Gameday. So what did Trev do, he quit and claimed contract dispute. Remember that ESPN and ABC fall under the same umbrella and Trev did burn some bridges. I highly doubt he will get "rewarded" for his quitting last year by landing the ABC job. My opinion is you will see Trev on CBS.

Although I hated Trev and his pretty boy haircut I did tune in weekly just to hear what he had to say so he does bring the viewers even if you love him or hate him.

Actually, wasn't he fired for not showing up to work?

From what I remember, yeah; that was the reason. The reported reason why he did not report to the set was that he felt he was playing second fiddle to Herbie and Corso (he was right). Anyway, he felt like he deserved more face time and was basically pouting about it. ESPN/ABC/Disney said "screw you, huskerboy" and fired his ass.

So, I seriously doubt he gets the job to replace Aaron Taylor, unless his attitude has changed, and given that his phone has probably not been ringing off the hook, maybe he has.

It is nice to hear how he is helping others. But since he's a Domer:

Is it just a coincidence that he quits that football analyst thing and Shrek the Third is due out in 2007?
