A Possible move to L.A..... ugh

So the situation seems to be presenting itself. A possible move to L.A.... has me feeling sick. Not that Miami doesn't have it's fakeness and snoots, but, L.A. seems much worse. My girlfriend is currently a model and her agency's acting division wants her in Hollywood. They told her that it is "pilot season" and they are confident that she would land a lot of work. She's a great actress and really diverese. So now, were looking into SoCal. There's a chance that they'll pay for her housing, but if not, it looks more expensive than Miami. Anyway anyone with L.A. experience... Where's the most afforadable, convienent and safest area to live in close to the Hollywood studios? Also how do the people that have lived there liked it? How is the "scene"? Any other input would be much appreciated.

First of all, your girlfriend can probably pull down a pretty penny doing three or four bukkake videos every month, which should allow you to live in the lap of luxury...or at least never leave your couch, xbox and fridge full of PBR.

Seriously, I like to visit LA for 3-4 days, but then I need to leave--quickly. That's just me, and others I know absolutely love it. To a great degree, the stereotypes are true--no culture, can't go anywhere without a car, overpriced as hell if you want to live anywhere cool but great outdoor activity and plenty of beautiful (if somewhat vapid) women, so it all depends on what's important to you. All that being said, I'd live in LA over Miami any day of the week. Also, I believe that most of the studios are actually located over the hills near Burbank. I would also guess that most of LA is probably safer than most of Miami--but less affordable.

If she wants to act, LA is a must. If you can handle the MIA, you should be able to find a nitch in LA. In and around Santa Monica isn't a bad place to live, have some friends out there. Not sure how far it is from the Hollywood stuff.

Depends on what you mean by "close to the Hollywood studios."
