Well, because I'm that kind of guy, I took the distance and angle from the end of runway 24, and then overlayed it for the runway that could have happened here. It would have come halfway to my house, and crashed into a school (or at least near).
Amazing only 1 person on the ground (so far, and presumably all are accounted for) was killed. That crash was during a busy part of the evening near a mall/business district.

In the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why he "did the cut-off", the other pilot replied that he didn't.

Just sayin': If you get the Smithsonian Channel or Paramount+ they have a great series titled Air Disasters.
"Air Disasters" is the general term for a popular documentary series that investigates major aircraft accidents, their causes, and the subsequent changes implemented to improve aviation safety.

Agree it’s a very interesting program. Also included through Disney+ and National Geographic.
