A Perfect Buckeye World....

osubro

Buckeye De La Salle Brother in the midsouth
It's my dream world, OK? But in a perfect Buckeye-colored world, every high school player in Ohio is a diehard Buckeye fan who fantasizes about playing for the scarlet and gray and every good OOS player has OSU at the top of his short list. Summer football camp becomes a special venue for all Buckeye wannabes to show heart, determination, commitment, and athletic prowess-- a campsite filled with kids like Grant Schwartz at every position and in every size. What a Woody wonderful world that would be!

I don't have any statistics, but I wonder how many current Buckeye players attended OSU fb camp. I wonder what that statistic is for former players. I wonder if Ohio kids like D. Howard, C. Woodson, F. Davis, T. Sutton or current high schoolers like A. Brown and J. Thomas, to name a few, attended fb camp at OSU. I wonder if OOS kids with some interest in the Bucks consider the importance of attending camp at OSU......

Summer fb camp at OSU is more than xs and os, 7 on 7 competition, and speed and agility drills. It's an opportunity for each camper to make a lasting impression, a personal statement.... Kids like Grant Schwartz, high school players who aren't shy about expressing their love for the Buckeyes, seem to be the exception rather than the norm these days. It would be Woody wonderful to see more players follow Grant's example.:oh: :io:

I have attended this camp and it is great. There is over a hundred coaches(HS and Small Colleges) that come from all over the country to that camp. Now if anybody ever thinks of attending don't expect too much one-on-one from the coaches as there is about/over 1500 kids at the camp. They have two camps for the "All-Positions" camp and just those two alone total over 3000 kids. I plan on attending again this year, although the camp price has been increased $25 from last year. If i can find a link to last year's application/flyer it list what former Buckeyes have attended the camp in the past. But at this moment i can only find the 2006 current flyer online and it just lists the prices at the time being.

I don't know if any of you remember a cornerback at OSU by the name of Richard McNutt. He was there and coaching the DB's, we also got to meet Jim Tressel. The whole time at the camp they are video taping you and they make a highlight film. At the end of the last day of the camp they take every kid/camper to Ohio Stadium and allow them to sit on the field while they show your camp's highlight video on the scoreboard/video screen. It is a great experience that every kid should experience.

Just to name a few buckeyes off my head that have attended the camp.

Cris Carter
Chris Spielman(I believe i saw his name on the list)

And there is plenty more, i just can't think of them. Those are the ones that come to mind right now.

Coach was talking to the DB's(i was with the DB's) and McNutt was standing there with him. Well he(Tressel) was saying to us that we should try to do what our team needs us to do. He said that McNutt took so many pain killers for his ankle so he could play, that it adventully ate away at his stomach. He was also saying that everybody at OSU has a job, whether its their had a inside the 50 punter, the holder for extra points, everybody is involved and does something that helps the team. Also from sitting right next to him, I would like to say that he has a very nice championship ring on his finger.

He also said that playing DB is one of the toughest positions to play, and i would have to agree, i have played DE and LB before and by far DB is the hardest to play since most of the time you have your back away from the QB.

Hey, TG05.....nice posts! Hope you're still looking for the camp info on current/former Buckeyes.....

I know that two verbals for this year-- Grant Schwartz and Antonio Henton-- were Buck FB campers. Does anyone know if Chris Wells, Conner Smith, Ross Homan, and the other early commits were campers this past summer? Maybe I'm reaching a little bit, but it seems that fb camp at OSU is a greatly under-appreciated feature of the recruiting process, at least for a lot of Buckeye fans, and a good barometer to gauge which top Ohio and OOS players have some interest in tOSU. :oh: :io:

I'm not really finding anything on former campers. I know it was on the last two year's flyers/applications online talking about the camp and then showing what buckeye greats have attended the camp. But this year the application has not been finished yet and just shows the times/dates and prices. No actual information on the camp. And the old(2005 Camp Page) has been removed/replaced with this year's version which has not been finished yet. I'm going to look thru my info that was mailed to me before last year's camp and see if it shows the former buckeye greats/campers.
