A Few Post-Game Thoughts....

also, before the start of the season, everyone was talkin about how if marcus freeman played anywhere but ohio state he would have been starting this year. the LB's will be greatly missed but if he lives up to his preseason hype, i dont think we will have too much to worry about.
we also have d'andrea (who was supposed to be a starter this year), kerr (who led the big ten in tackles while at indiana), and laurinaitis (li'l animal will be just fine). we'll be reloading. i'm sure there are some other beasts who will make places for themselves.

I'm excited to see the game on TV to hear the crowd noise. We were a pretty vocal OSU crowd, especially around sec. 17-18, and ABC had a mic right in front of us. There was nothing better than 100k fans shutting their collective holes in unison, while the OSU fans cheered and sang. I will never forget the band playing Carmen Ohio to the team right in front of us up there.

As I was driving home from the bar, I listened to Carmen Ohio, and wondered if the band played that in visiting stadiums. From what you say, the answer is "Yes." Now for my next wondering: does the team sing Carmen Ohio after a victory in other stadiums if the band isn't there?

Truly incredible game. Troy Smith, like last year, played the best game of his season against Michigan. If he plays like that in a bowl game, he'll be in some pre-season Heisman lists.

Ginn Ginn Ginn. My head almost exploded so many times yesterday because of him. I began wondering what I would do in Tressel's place. Is he a liability to the team? Now that I've calmed down, I'm thinking that the two fumbled punts were glitches. Or random. He played great as receiver (I remember a couple of drops, but not many), but did he return ANY punts? Maybe he was just trying to keep TV ratings up.

The defense: outstanding. 50 or so rushing yards, about 275 total yards, and most of Michigan's points came with the short field. They really stepped up and won that game.

As usual, if you want to give the game ball to one guy, I'd agree that that one guy would be Troy Smith. But if I can give it to who I think won the game, I'd give it to the entire defense.

Troy Smith is the best QB in the Big Ten

This young man has come a LOOOOONG way, and is already a Buckeye legend with a season still to go. Congratulations Troy, can't wait to see what else you have up your sleeve! How proud must Ted Gin Sr, be right now?

:groove:

A good argument can be made for Michael Robinson as well. He has played lights out this year and is the main reason why the Nits are going to the BCS.

Given a choice, I'd take Smith. But most PSU fans would take Robinson. Its a toss up.

I'd like another shot those fuckers though.

As I sat there in the 4th quarter, I overly concerned myself that we were losing the turnover war and the speacial teams war. Then I added in the missed extra point and field goal. I wondered if a Tressel coached team, who focuses so much on these aspects, could possibly win.

Then it hit me what was missing. Last year, we watched the Alamo Bowl at my same friends house. That friend had an incredibly irritating dog which my other buddy kicked repeatedly through out that game. This year, he promised not to kick the dog.

In the fourth quarter, with no offensive production to mention, I leaned over to my buddy. I told him that it was not something that I was happy about, but I instructed him to kick the damned dog. Shortly thereafter, my Buddy punted "Brutus" the irritating dog. I shit you not, the moment that he put the leather to him, we started moving the ball and drove down for the first of our two touchdowns. Then the defense came out, held strong, and we drove down the field again. Well, you know the rest....

My point is that I am not proud that we had to sacrifice "Brutus" the irritating dog. But if need be, we will punt that little bastard again to win a bowl game. Brutus was truly the reason for that wonderfull victory.

Great game Seniors! You have been a blessing to watch.

After the Bowl game, when the dog has been kicked to death; have him stuffed and mounted and make sure he's handy for every game till the end of time.

Unfortunately I think that he muffed a few more over the year... unfortuantely looks like a trend.

I remember reading somewhere (maybe here) that his hands could be due to his playing so much DB in HS... don't think I agree with it, but there is a pattern to the dropseys...

Truly disturbing story of the day.

GREAT IDEA! He's actually a small dog, so we don't boot him too hard. Plus, his name IS Brutus....

We just give him enough of a nudge to let him know that the Bucks need to get it going. Apparently, he is a magical little dog....

I'm thinking about going out there tomorrow, kicking him, and wishing for naked women and money.

I just hope there isn't a drop off for our offense at the beginning of next year. It seems like we always start out a little slow at the beginning of the year before hitting our stride. I think Smith playing in the bowl game will help that out immensely though.
It's a great time to be a Buckeye!! :osu:

I was a big Troy Smith doubter as we started the season, but I've got to say that he's really impressed me as the year progessed. He has matured as a QB and is playing much smarter, reading the D, and looking at all of his options before making a move. And he's throwing the ball extremely well- I think all of the frustration we had over his decision making obscured the fact that he's got a pretty good arm. Big props to Troy- I'll gladly eat crow on this one.

I'm very optimistic about next year. With Smith back at QB and the talent we've got in some of the skill positions I think our offense should pick up right where they finish this year. Same goes for the defense. We're starting to get pretty deep with talent at some critical positions.

I was so happy last night and (as always) proud to be a BUCKEYE!!

:oh: :io:

Watching the game again and I just want to get a few facts about that officiating crew down for posterity sake...

Where was the delay of game penalty on the 3rd and 9 where Breaston caught a 1st down pass after the play clock had read :00 for almost a full second?

Where is the PI on Tyler Everett in the end zone?

Why does it look like every Michigan spot is generous? A 5 yard pass turns out to be a 6 yard gain...and this seems to be happening a lot.

Did Quinn Pitcock get a new jersey at half time? Because the one he started with was obviously torn to shreds with all the holding going on out there.

When does Santonio score and NOT dive into the end zone? How often do other players dive into the end zone and not get flagged? How many times did I see a guy dive into the end zone and not get flagged during yesterday's games alone?

Yeah I was complaining about The delay of game penalty all day long, hell the clock sat on 0 for 1.5 seconds. Then the Personal foul was just the end, I went fuckin' nuts. And all that LLLLYod can say after the game is the refs blew the call when Gonzo was pushed OOB. Give me a break.
We almost got homered.

The flag on Holmes was utter and complete bullshit. As was the call on Everett. Homer calls if I've ever seen one.

I find it hard to complain about the holding anymore I'm so used to seeing it. Its gotten to the point where I think opposing O-lines are told to hold all day knowing it will never get called. If this game was played on the street, Pitcock could press charges for sexual assault after yesterday.

I agree, holding is a hard call to spot though, it can be called on almost every play. However, when you see our player running forward and an opposing playing tugging him backwards with his jersey and/or tackling him, its simply ridiculous...
