A Few Observations from A-Deck

Yesterday in A-deck was like being on a reality TV show. Bunch of raggedy drunk asshole 50-somethings next to me making pedophile "jokes." Half the area was convulsed in laughter, the other half offended beyond belief. Sheriff deputies came by several times, culminating in the drunks being hauled away to the hoosegow. Hilarity ensued, along with many other people calling the sheriff deputies "Nazis" and claiming the drunks had been persecuted for simply cheering. Those drunk-supporters made great sport of yelling what a shame it was that Issue 2 was defeated, and that the deputies were just a bunch of lazy double-dippers.

Family in front of me - moms was lecturing and berating the drunks; skinny pretty daughter trying to play peace-maker; pudgy daughter playing handsies with and trying to get the drunks' phone numbers to hook up post-game. Another fan calls pudgy daughter "Snooki."

Goddamn more entertaining than the game, I can tell you.

New year, new ethos.

1. Braxton Miller is so much improved over last season, and in no way more than his calm demeanor. I think it's telling that Meyer was (understandably and legitimately) upset after the 1st quarter but Braxton was calming him down, saying we'll do just fine.

2. Don't know how they are yet at getting separation, but Evan Spencer and Devin Smith sure have great athleticism and sticky hands. Incredible catches. The replays on TV honestly didn't do Smith's catch justice, and Spencer's wasn't far behind.

3. Noah Spence and Diesel Washington will give B1G defensive coordinators many sleepless nights over the next few years.

4. Brad Roby remains the best DB I've seen in the conference, though last night's Bama game showed me maybe the best in the nation (Dee Milliner).

7. Adam Griffin looked good on special teams, and looked good on D when he played.

8. My goodness, Najee Murray is a tiny fellow to be playing big-time college football. Looks like someone's kid brother dressed in Buckeye gear. But he played as a true frosh, so he must have impressed the coaches. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
