#9 Wichita St +4.5 vs #2 tOSU (ov/un 129.5) Sat 7:05 CBS

Complete Package?

Good coach? Check. Solid backcourt? Check. Size and toughness? Check and check.

The Shockers put on an impressive display in a 72-58 beatdown of La Salle, winning the rebounding battle 47-29, but more importantly shutting down an extremely talented Explorer backcourt. The talented trio of Ramon Galloway, Tyrone Garland and Tyreek Duren combined to shoot just 12-of-37 for La Salle.

?They?re big time,? La Salle coach John Giannini said afterwards. ?They?re a very high-level team. They?re quick, they?re big, they?re strong, they?re deep.?

Wichita State?s backcourt was led by Malcolm Armstead, who dropped 18 points, and freshman Ron Baker's 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. Armstead and Baker are just two pieces on a deep Wichita State squad that used an 11-man rotation on Thursday night at the Staples Center, and the Shockers are going to need every bit of that depth to beat Ohio State on Saturday.

With wins in this tournament over Pitt, Gonzaga and now La Salle, Wichita State has shown it can match up with a number of styles and beat some of the top teams in the country. Ohio State has every right to be nervous about the latest mid-majors.

Opening line set at only -4.5 in Vegas according to RJ Bell. I bet that it moves before tip off tomorrow though.

After our past two games, this actually concerns me

After the last 2 games I'm more confident. The Bucks have shown a remarkable ability to come back after being down double digits, the resilience to hang tough when the opposition slops in some threes or makes a run, demonstrated that they will not fold in the final minutes, and several players that actually want the ball at "crunch time" (i.e. they are not afraid to shoot and have the confidence that they'll score). But most importantly the team has demonstrated that they just know how to win a close game.

I see on Wikipedia that the nicknames for Wichita are as follows:

Cowtown
The Air Capital of the World
Doo Dah

Well, I'd just like to ask.....Have you ever heard this song in Columbus?

P.S. Ohio State is the only school that I know of that elected a cow as homecoming queen.

Maudine Ormsby, a pure-bred Holstein cow, is the center of attention during a parade after being voted Ohio State's homecoming queen in 1926.

Far from this opera forever more
I'm gonna work the straw, make the sweat drip out of every pore..."

Seven Nation Army

That's all I know about the place.

Also, anyone else giggle the first time they heard that they were the shockers? heh

Wichita State got 41 FT attempts against Pitt. Gonzaga did not have much offensive balance against them, with only 3 guys really being offensive threats in that game. I do remember the Zags making an incredibly dumb play by inbounding the ball to Stockton after a made FT, and then Stockton carried the ball out of bounds for a turnover. Easy to close out games with boneheaded plays like that by the Zags.
