Uh, maybe it's because they really don't feature any fucking acting in them? Of the top 25 grossing movies (listed below), which few really featured an actual fucking plot with some quality actors (excluding animated movies with regards to actors)?

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End
5. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
6. Alvin and the Chipmunks
7. 300
8. Ratatouille
9. The Simpsons Movie
10. Wild Hogs
11. Knocked Up
12. Rush Hour 3
13. Live Free or Die Hard
14. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
15. American Gangster
16. Juno
17. Bee Movie
18. Enchanted
19. Superbad
20. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
21. Hairspray (2007)
22. Blades of Glory

Granted, most of these were popular based mainly on the entertainment factor, not the seriousness of the plot, but that also shows why many of the nominated films weren't neccessarily popular with the general public.

No way. It wasn't even worthy of a Oscar nomination for best picture. The best they could do was a nomination for Achievement in Music...

You need to go watch some of the shit they nominated, because there are some quality films nominated. I actually think they did a pretty good job with the nominations this year.

Seriously. If you are a man, you shouldn't be watching The Academy Awards anyway. I don't need an Oscar to validate my choice to watch "Live Free or Die Hard".
