Game Thread #7 tOSU 18, Purdue 26 (Oct 17, Noon ET, BTN)

A big part of the reason why the OL looks so bad is that they are just daring us to pass on them and so far we haven't been able to. I'm looking at the WR rooster and I don't see a Michael Jenkins or Brian Robiskie type who can help us get out of jams like this. Sanzo seems to be our most consistent receiver but we can't get the ball accurately there. Until something happens in the passing game Purdue will continue to stick everyone in the box.

I'm just wondering... is TP supposed to make a read on these zone plays or are they already designed? Because if he's supposed to make a read he's not making the right one. Giving it when he should keep it and keeping it when he should give it.

I think because of the criticism following the previous games that he doesn't check down on the zone plays, it seems like he might be trying too hard to make reads, and choosing the wrong one. He needs a couple of screens to get his swagger back.

This is hard to watch. Defense is typical GOOD. Offense is BAD. Same old same old last couple years. I know Pryor is young but WOW. Missing open WR's. And what can I say about offensive line. Against USC they were great. And against Purdue no blocking what so ever. I will give Browning this that wasn't a hold, horrible call.

Also, Ohio State simply refuses to throw the ball over the middle - everything is slow-developing out routes. How 'bout some quick looks to the TE and RB's, maybe a screen?

I dont know

would it be worth giving Bauserman a series to see what happens?

I doubt it happens unless Pryor were injured though

I think it would have been worth is late in the 2nd quarter.

However, you're probably right. I think Ohio State actually needs to LOSE a game (or God Forbid an injury) before JT makes a change.

I don't agree at all about not having what's needed at WR, and given the bolded part of the quote, would it matter if they had a Jenkins or Robiskie out there?

FWIW, Sanzenbacher had a pretty good catch out there... oh, nevermind.

I wouldn't put Bauserman in. To me, much of TP's trouble has come from his trouble handling pressure. I just don't see Bauserman handling it any better.

They ran a lot of screens to saine after the first series where the oline was getting blown up. That's not working. I agree they need to throw a quick slant or something though.

Might not be a bad idea to bring in Stoney and Ballard. Extra blocker/ bailout receiver.
Stoneys been out there.
