68 Team Tourney instead of 64, 65 or 96

So in either scenario you'd just take the top 16 or 32 teams in the polls?

For legitimacy's sake, there'd have to a poll that most consider the most accurate assessment of a team as a whole.

Would that be something like the AP or something like the KenPom ratings?

IIRC, the KenPom ratings had Butler just outside of the top 16 before the tourney started. I'm not sure where they were in the AP.

Probably a selection committee like they have now. No selection system is going to be perfect and there will always be someone unhappy that they got left out, so one method is as good as another in my eyes.

NCAA Tournament Expands to 68 Teams

The NCAA men's basketball tournament is expanding, starting next season, but not on the large scale once expected. The NCAA has reached a 14-year, nearly $11 billion agreement with CBS and Turner Sports for the TV rights to a 68-team tournament -- up a modest three teams from the current 65.

...

In the new deal, the opening, first- and second-round games will all be shown nationally on CBS, TBS, TNT and TruTV. CBS and Turner will split coverage for the regional semifinal games.

I literally just turned in a motherfucking article about the tournament possibly expanding to 96 teams about three hours ago. Now that article is worthless because this shit just came out of nowhere.

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I just wasted a lot of time and effort on nothing.

Assuming you get trutv, that is.
i highly doubt that trutv won't be on almost all plans by next year's tournament. do you really think that providers won't be looking to add a moneymaking channel that is part of the turner system?

by the way, you'll still be able to watch the games online. i don't know whether there will be an official webcasting site, but you'll definitely be able to watch the games on the various streaming sites.
