No matter how disappointing, folks, life will go on. I wouldn't for a moment pretend to understand why someone would do what these players did, for such chump change. But, I know that other players will be willing to hold their hands up and fill the void.

I really hope that this does not affect the bowl game and that the length of the suspension is revisited in an appeal. I mean, really. Cam. Newton.

I am proud to support a university that has the integrity to immediately consider a ban for the bowl.

Pryor Boom Posey I can see all going pro.

Solly and Adams need another year (even a suspension shortened one to get better.)

This makes me sad concerning Adams. Having known him (and the others), I see some the the trouble Adams has had over the past few years and I think so much of it is out of his character. He really is a good kid who, in my opinion, has been running with a few of the... hmmmm how to say it without bashing... young men who aren't making the best decisions and who aren't being a solid influence.

Unfortunately, it appears that TP has been one of the people making a few poor choices. Although nowhere near the severity, it reminds me of Art quite a bit.

Can someone please clarify for me. What is wrong with them selling off their rings, pants, etc.? Aside from a fans perspective of I would never do that, it is their property isn't it?

Please fill me in on what I am missing here.

As for the "tats" I kind of get that.
if college athletes were permitted to sell their sports-related possessions, then a market between the players and boosters would be created. the items would be sold well over their value. a jersey then could be sold for, say, $10k.

Motherfucker. I think this will hurt us next season, but not all that bad. I think it will hurt in the 6th game against NU. I'm more pissed about these guys breaking the rules knowingly. Because this hurts the whole team.

This makes Braxton Miller the biggest recruit in a ver long time. I think he's odds on to start the season.

I think it's a possibity, but these guys may get a reduced "sentence" and could come back after a few games instaed of 5. I'm not going out and selling my colors yet.

The Cam Newton deal is fun to laugh at.....but Auburn is going to get theirs, and theirs is going to be a lot more severe than ours. That's because we don't cover things up.

This to me is ridiculous.

Someone already said it...Ohio State just needs to learn to not self report . Cam Newton and $200,000 and...nothing.

TP said that he wanted to leave a legacy at Ohio State.

Congratulations Terrelle.

Braxton Miller...COME ON DOWN!!!!!
I have a feeling that all of these guys will be sitting for the Sugar Bowl as well.

Only the ones who submitted the paperwork on time (I'll check on the date, but it was some time earlier this month). We don't know which (if any) of the five actually did so. The ones who didn't submit the paperwork will have to return (barring some exception to the rule).

All of them could go pro if they want. The submitted paperwork thing is to get their evaluation about where they would go in the draft, to help them determine if they should or not. That doesn't stop them from still declaring without knowing where the NFL thinks they would go in the draft.

What I find frustrating is I feel like it wasn't long ago that we were hearing how TP and Adams were "growing up" (for lack of a better term).. Adams had finally been able to get back on the field and was showing improvement from game to game...... and now this.

While I do think the NCAA rules are ridiculous, that is no excuse for these players - they knew the rules going in and chose not to abide by them. Would I like to see a shortened suspension? as a buckeye fan yes.. But if the suspension is upheld, there's really no way to argue with it. Rules apply to everyone, no matter how big of a superstar you may be

The timelne on this is interesting.

OSU began their investigation on the 16th and we had NCAA penalties 6 days later.

A rush job I would assume to clarify the Bowl situation, but lots of time to appeal before next season.

Not sure it was a good idea to keep them eligible for the Bowl. You have already pulled the rug out from under the team - are these the guys that are needed to rally around? (Then again, quarterbacks can be useful at times.)

Very unfortunate and distasteful. But I must say I find much of the self-righteousness on this and other boards quite tiresome.
