Why wouldn't they report it when local news isreporting it? Seems like many here are attacking the reporting. I don't get it, OSU is investigating. So it's news and should be reported.

Maybe because they're unidentified sources and the school has yet to comment. Right now, all they have that is confirmed is a tweet from TP. Just sayin. The way the USC thing went with ESPIN it just seems like they always have an axe to grind.

Maybe they'll assign Tom Friend to the story too.

Well if nothing comes of this then Herbie's going to be roasted anytime he shows face in Columbus... That was a bold move and normally I'd think he's got some tangible info if he's going to stick his neck out, but then again this is the same guy that made a fool of himself during the UM coaching change.

This crap makes me nervous and then pissed that it's happening when a guy was just given the Heisman while breaking a rule that's potentially worht 180 times what a nice tat costs.

It's a bowl game. Not the national title game. Quickly investigate, sit whoever it is out for the sugar bowl, and move on.

In the grand scheme of things the non-national title game bowls are not a big deal.

Even if it is shown that players did exchange autographs for ink, it doesn't mean that the players have to sit. They may only be required to pay back the value of the tattoos before being eligible. Regardless, there is a startling lack of facts available. More than anything, it appears that the local Columbus paper and news station were in a race to the presses and did not have much regard for confirming the validity of the story. At this point, who knows.

This is nothing. I can think of much more the NCAA has allowed without suspension. I think Arkansas is also being looked at for a huge violation. Many things are so backwards it is laughable.

I think it's a reference to the idea that the concept of a student-athlete in the NCAA is much heavier on the athlete side than it is on the student side. It's a fair point. That's not to say that there aren't plenty of players taking advantage of the opportunity presented to them. But at the margin, it's definitely a facade.

The quote from the alleged tattoo parlor that got raided was something like "they gave it to us for some stuff." How do you leap that they got free tattoo's out of that other then it was a tattoo parlor and a lot of speculation.

Well, I was referring to their intelligence but obviously I was exaggerrating. The reality is that the majority of these kids would not have been accepted into either university if not for their athletic skills. My point being, what's the value of a tattoo? These kids are in college to play football. If some of them happen to get an education (most of them don't), that is a bonus. I understand the need to have rules in place so kids aren't getting cars, houses, jobs for their parents, etc. But we're talking about tattoos. I understand these are still allegations and I'm not in the "rumor mill" here. But suppose those allegations are true. Being an OSU football player, you have status in this town. What's wrong with getting a tattoo in exchange for some autographs? The day after TP2 leaves school, he could sell his shoelaces to any memorabilia collector in Columbus for more than the value of a tattoo! Whether these allegations are true or not, my question becomes "Why is this illegal?"
