#47's last game in Ohio Stadium

From the Mansfield Journal:

http://www.centralohio.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/BF/20051112/SPORTS04/511120332/1057

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Hawk, who is considered almost a lock to go in the first round of next year's NFL draft, on his finances in the future: "I'll enjoy being around the players and the coaches, staying in The Blackwell one last time. Because I probably won't have enough money to stay there again."

Yeah. Right.

I'm sure the Blackwell will give him some break.

Such a special time watching AJ's last game today. The crowd really let him hear it. The touchdown couldn't have happened to a better guy.

When he came off the field the last time..... words cannot describe that.

"Everywhere I turned, there was A.J.," said Sutton, last year's Mr. Football in Ohio who finished with 14 carries for 93 yards -- 27 under his average. "He truly does run a 4.4 40."

The amazing part of that blocked punt where he scored the td, is that we weren't even set up for a block. We weren't even in a punt return formation. We had 4 of our guys on the line against 8 of their players. And Pitcock ran by 3 different guys.

I doubt we will see another player like Hawk for years, if ever. He is just a smart football player. He never takes a play off, mentally or physically. On Youboty's interception, Hawk had the awareness to peel the NW reciever off to help Youboty get possession. You just can't teach that.

If I could make a mold of what I wanted a Buckeye Football player to be, on and off the field, it would be text book AJ Hawk. He is something to be proud of in a time when it often seems that a lot of athlete's are putting themselves before the team.

How fitting was it...his first interception for a touchdown came against Kent State in his very first game as a Buckeye, in The Shoe. In his last game in The Shoe, he picked one and took it to the house again.

Lets just enjoy watching him in his final game as a Buckeye Saturday. What a class act. GO BUCKS...LETS POUND SCUM!

We can honestly(to my knowledge) all say that AJ Hawk was the only LB in the country all season long to take a punt back for a TD.

Technically his INT TD was in his second game in the Shoe. Texas Tech was the opener.

I loved the field level camera replays where ABC isolated AJ. Two plays in a row he beat the blocker outside and made a crushing hit. One was the Sutton fumble. That camera angle really showed how good his instincts are, and damn he's fast!
