4000 members and growing

Their bball guy is saving their butts for now.

The planet is closing on 1500 posts in its basketball recruiting forum. Just months ago we didn't have a separate recruiting forum for BBall - and none of the other sites have one yet.

Lamb used to stop by now and again but I don't believe he has done so in quite awhile. I would not be surprised if he was directed to stay away.

Thanks Clarity.

perhaps, but I bet there is info that has not been disclosed, whether it was Lamb or Matta/Lighty/etc that did the censorship. I really think this is a done deal and they are just waiting a little while to make sure...

Either way he has been the main supplier of info about these recruits, and we are naturally going to love him for that. Plus most of us cannot analyze basketball as well and so we are going to be more apt to view his analysis with more respect

You think another rival Buckeye site (who's name will go unmentioned) regrets pissing off all its top dogs and taking away 4,000 potential paying customers with them?
Oh amen brotha. I look down through the threads over here, and think about how each name I see used to be the biggest posters on BN...including myself. Hell I was one of the guys that made the RR over there, and got it closed :) Ahh, here is to the good times......and the new good times.

classic guru wannabe trick to make you sound more in the know than you can disclose without saying anything of substance even to paying customers. he is learning fast. maybe he will wink at us like some sort of fag now too.
Nevada does the same thing, and he's not making any money off of it. Maybe it's just the way it is?

Maybe we cleared out a lot of old users that never come here or something, but I just checked and we have 157 pages of members, which at most could equal 3140 members (as there are 20 per page).

I don't know why it is hard for some to understand that after meeting the recruits and their families and building a relationship over time.....that it would be in very bad taste to suddenly "out them."

Those are the kind that give recruiting a bad name....Heck, I went out of my way to keep Jason Gwaltney's decision under wraps because I got to know him....

Certain classes and types of users don't show up on that list. The count on the front page is always most accurate.

How many of those are people actively involved (on any level -- posting, lurking, etc.) on the site? I don't know. We've had days since Jan.1 where over 1100 unique registered users have visited the site at least once during the day. Days where over 10k unique users (registered and not) have.

So at the worst, 25% of our total membership is actively involved (at least by reading), and odds are it's closer to 50% if you allow that some don't check in daily. All of this culled from a period where OSU was inactive, at least on a football front. Obviously if you limit the definition of 'activity' to posting, we're looking more along the lines of 10-25% (daily/weekly)

These are good ratios. Great, actually. Says that a lot of people find reasons to return. Bear in mind that for every single active registered user we have, there are between 10-20 (depending on how you measure from the raw stats) active unregistered lurkers that come back and browse regularly.

BP was formed in the hope that we could *add* something of value to the online OSU community. I think we're doing that, and I hope we'll keep finding ways to improve in order to do that better. I also hope that 2005 will find us a better neighbor in the community. Less drama with other sites and/or personalities. More involved with making Buckeyes a tighter knit and well-balanced group.

One of our biggest periods of growth happened to come at a time where the extent of my ability to be involved was to respond to emails sent through Jo. That says something good about the health of the site, and something great about the guys (you know who they are) who stepped up and made sure BP kept maturing and improving.

Thanks for the clarification, and hats off to all of those mentioned who stepped up in his absence. It's great to have you back, but even greater to know that I fell in love with BP at a time when we were under temporary management.

It sure is great that we were able to land a new server during this offseason, as I think a number of variables will lead to even more growth this fall. This truly has become a great asset to the Buckeye community, and not only offered improved structure, dialogue and information in a number of areas, but added additional features that other sites do not provide.

However, while I do not like certain elements about bucknuts, I would never want to replace them. They do a good job with certain elements in a way that a free website could never match. A world with BN, Ozone, BSB, BP and soon other sites is much better than having a few put the other out of business.
