360 NCAA10 Movie Team Dynasty

Are the custom schedules done yet, and if not, when will they be ready?

I need to make sure I get a good jump on recruiting in case I get stuck with another 5 minute recruiting week. :pissed:

In all seriousness though, after looking at my roster when the recruiting was completed, I'm only at around 61 players. I think I'll be losing around another 21 players this year due to graduation alone, so another 2-3 players would have been really nice for me last season. That fact that I got shutout of my chance to host the #1 tackle, #2 OLB, and #6 guard was a bit like rubbing salt in a wound. The good news was that I at least got the WR that I used my 5 minutes on, and that I was able to recruit a player to every one of my positions of need, so I didn't have to take on any walk-ons.

I did notice a couple of things in this version that I found to be interesting (especially since I haven't been playing my personal dynasty lately, and haven't previously gone through the offseason), particularly with regards to position changes.

First, I had recruited a large WR (6' 6" 235 lbs) with hopes that he might convert over to being a receiving weapon at TE. That one didn't quite pan out, in that he still has regular WR STR (around 57 I think) and his blocking isn't very impressive. His OVR as a TE was only a 49. He still has 87 SPD though and is a 75 OVR, so I'm still happy to have him play WR. He's definitely an upgrade over the WR from my original roster that only has 78 SPD (and that's after he gained 2 SPD points from the improvement part of the offseason).

Second, since I already had a FS recruited, I took a chance on another one that was 6' 4" and 220 lbs, but I wasn't sure about his speed. I hoped I might be able to move him over to an LB position if needed. In this case, it worked out pretty well. He has 85 SPD and 68 STR. His rating as a FS was 77 OVR. I moved him to OLB and he's a 74 or 75 OVR. He should make for a nice coverage LB. I'm glad that EA went back to only messing with player awareness for position changes, and not screwing around with SPD, AGI, and ACC ratings.

Going forward, I move that we have Josh save each offseason week so that we can avoid someone getting screwed by not receiving their full recruiting time, or so that we all don't miss out on another entire recruiting week. Anyone want to second this?

I'm wondering why the off season stuff seemed so glitchy??? If we keep going back I would be afraid that someone else would have a similar problem and we would be stuck going back all night. With this many people it already takes way too many hours. My vote is to say what happens happens. We can make up a story like a ncaa violation.

I realize that next time it may be me and if it is i will be pissed too. But i don't think we should go back.

We should commit to what we are going to do before next off season.

So if he goes to move the week forward after week 1 of recruiting, and it skips the remainder of the offseason, you'd be fine with that?

Look, I still had a strong recruiting class, so it didn't affect me that much. But it makes sense to me that if it's reasonable to take safeguards against such instances from re-occuring, then we should do that.

My solution would be to save the dynasty after each person has completed their steps for each respective week. Then, if there are any major issues when we advance to the next week, all we should have to do is have Josh reload the dynasty and advance again.

Jwins, how long does it take to save the dynasty? Are we talking 5 minutes or 30 seconds? Am I being overly simplistic in this line of thinking? Is there more to it than just reloading and advancing?

Redbenn, you ended up with some tremendous talent at some positions... the computer stole the 5-star speed RB from under mean machine's nose... plus another stellar RB with speed. You got the dual threat QB, and had a handful of stellar DBs (they put the 5-star ATH at CB). You have some glaring issues at OL, but Cali has a lot of them this year.

They are done, I'll post the spreadsheet shortly. Millikin, I believe you're playing Miami & Allenville/Bayside (can't remember which).

I've converted an ATH to TE before and despite good blocking, speed & catching ratings, sometimes they still check in at 57 or 64. I think that comes down to the strength attribute.

It's hard to find TEs with speed moving forward... you're better off taking a C+ speed TE and developing him for a few years unless you can find a rare ATH that pans out.

You can move down safeties quite well in this game.

I think part of the reason we (I) didn't go back yesterday was because of how glitchy it had been for everyone, and because Halfricaan had already missed week 1 & week 2 of recruiting when it wouldn't save his results. I can save it every week going forward. I usually do that during the regular season in case of glitches.

It takes 30 seconds to save. It would probably take about 10 min for it to be reloaded, everyone to get their invites, and download the dynasty (that's if everyone's on). It would then take another 20-35 min for folks to re-do that week.

Are there many other positions that transfer well? I assume FB and TE are fairly interchangeable. My guess would be that only power RBs would be reasonable to move to FB.

I did have a RB that would have moved over fairly well as a WR.

I know strong LBs (MLBs mostly) used to make awesome DEs, but they were way too good. I didn't even look at how they'd be last night. Hopefully they're realistic but not overdone.

Would we really have to redo the week if it were saved after everyone had already completed their work for that week?

Nope, they've made a big emphasis on blocking ability, and an overwhelming majority of backs can't block very well. Now, you might be able to develop them, but the good HB to FB candidates are D/D+ impact blocking, D- run blocking, D- pass blocking most of the time.

RB to WR is doable, I did a couple of those. They will take a few years before they catch very well.

It doesn't save their work, the system only downloads everyone else's work when it starts to advance the week. When I save week 3, I'm saving everything before week 3 & whatever progress I've made.

By the way, I just opened a ticket with EA regarding the "5 minute" and "missing 5th week" issues with EA. After reading through some stuff at Operation Sports it looks as though EA has been telling people that nothing's wrong. Apparently they need to hear of more problems from more customers before they'll believe it, so I'd let them hear from me too.

You guys are more than welcome to complain to them about the server issues too.

From reading their support forum, which has been largely ignored for months, it seems pretty clear that they just don't care enough to own up to their mistakes.

I just hope the economy and considerable problems make them step up their game for 2011. They finally made some substantial upgrades in gameplay, maybe now they'll remove the stupid errors everyone has... Like constant dropped games with perfect user connections, dynasty saving issues. I cannot get through an offline dynasty offseason without having all of my remaining targets universally changed to 10th place in terms of interest in my school. It usually happens after week 3 or 4, but it always happens. There's almost no chance of recovering them at that point.

So after spending about an hour tweaking, moving, re-doing, etc the schedule... somehow I forgot to re-add Iowa as Allenville's rivalry game after shuffling their OOC schedule. Now, it was going to be a road game, so there is no loss of recruiting, but that leaves Allenville with only 11 games.

The tradeoff here is they no longer get to beat up on the weak b12 north teams this year and only play 1 user opponent. They travel to Texas & OU in weeks 5 & 7.

I tried to keep most of OOC matchups alive for a second year, while cancelling some of the tougher matches for the worst teams and trying to schedule ESU (joe is still AWOL) for them instead. I gave the 9-10 win teams 1-2 good not great OOC challenges. Only WC & Miami ended up with 1 elite OOC opponent (OSU & PSU respectively). Allenville & Bayside will be asked to keep ND & UM in the gutter.

schedule coming shortly... typing it up now...
