360 Dynasty 2011 **Planning***

I think if we do the stars, we might have to wait til we see who's where (I dunno how much they would change from last year's version)

so for 1-2 I have no preference I guess. For team choices..um, I say hold a "draft" determine order my random drawing. I think that's the most fair because for first serve, the people that will get their choices first are the people that don't have a life (like me) and is on this site all the time. I say 1 ooc user, hard enough when we play 3, I think 4 total would be good....

and don't the dynasty accelerators cost ms points? If so, then I say not allowed.

1. Max 3 stars, maybe the group can vote against a team that's too stacked?

2. I'd prefer a CCG to help a user overtake Boise State or another undefeated team unworthy of keeping us out of the NC.

3. Random number draft would be best. We can figure out later whether that order is 1-4 or 1-12, depending on the pool of teams we're picking from (it would be nice for many of the small schools to have rivalries with each other and/or some conference foes).

4. 4 games is a good number. You can still win 9 or 10 games if you lose 3 or 4 user games.

5. I hate them, I just thought I'd include it just in case. They do cost points and reward lazy scouring.

I think we may have to run a test dynasty or two, either online or on our own, to figure out what difficulty setting we want to use for recruiting. See the NCAA 2011 blog for more info on that. I don't want it to be impossible, but it would be fun to make it more challenging. Perhaps we'd set it one setting lower when we start out, then bump it up a degree of difficulty after 2-3 years.

I have a feeling this is where I'm going to suck the most, I am soo bad at recruiting, mostly because I don't have the patience to recruit, I just wanna play the game :(
If the game is anything like last year, it can pay dividends to focus on a smaller number of guys you really want... which can help for those who don't want to juggle that much research and targeting.

What about controlling what states people can pick teams from? I think being from a pipeline(Texas, Ohio, Florida, Cali) state is a huge advantage in recruiting. In the past it seems as if those states come out with a higher quantity of prospects. It's not really that big of a deal, just something I thought should be brought up.

Can we still edit conferences so we could bring a team from another conference to replace a lesser team in a major conference?

I also approve of a rule stating that upstart powers(Boise State) should be worked into our schedules so we have a better chance at the BCS games. Along with putting ND and scum in their place.

State pipelines are something to consider. Anyone have any suggestions for how to handle that? I think it would factor somewhat into what teams we make available for our team draft.

I'll take a glance at some of the teams tonight and see if I can get a rough idea of some teams with rivalries that might be natural transitions to certain conferences.

Yes, you just swap them like we did with team builder. I'm in a super conference OD right now with Texas in the Big East. Previously I was in the pac-10 with Texas.

That's always a staple of my dynasty, even when my team list prevents me from lining up App State @ Michigan for every opener.

The commissioner sets it up. You can make requests, especially since only one slot will be filled by user games. I usually ask folks if they have any general preferences in terms of difficulty, and they are free to request specific matchups if they'd like them.

Depending on how the conferences end up, you might need one or two OOC games to preserve your rivalries.

All I know is I want scUM as my opening game. (called it)

I think up to 3 star team to use is a good foundation and if there's any problems we can have the league vote or whatever. Most of the teams from 2010 will probably keep their prestiage level the same. I really don't think pipelines play that big of a role if were 2 or 3* teams. I remember when I set up the 09 online dynasty on here and I was Miami Ohio, it's hard to get really good recruits.

I'm not a huge fan of messig with the conferences personally, only if you get invited into it. My opinion though.

I'm compiling a list of the 2 & 3 star teams to spark some discussion. Looking at the list, certain 3-stars will probably be ruled out (like Arkansas or Clemson last year) when we get the final ratings.

The texas schools would be easy to import into the b12 and even out the pipeline advantage. Using some OH schools would be trickier but doable.

The problem is then 1-2 users are in one conference and the other 2-3 in the other.

Soldier, I think we're full, but I'll keep your name in mind as we get started. Maybe they'll expand the max user limit for 2011 (right now we have the limit at 12), or someone will drop out after playing the demo. Gomer's also a possibility if he keeps having connection issues with games.

Right, I understand that. Now were we going to put all of us into the BCS conferences and remove some of the crappier teams or were we for instance divison 1

I was thinking of going BCS, but I'm open for feedback, that was the point of the survey. If we do go BCS, I think we could definitely pull off Texas 3-star teams in the b12 & Ohio 3-star teams in the b10. Then we'd have to figure out the last grouping. Almost done with the list.
