#3 Sparty +1.5 vs #2 Duke (over/under 133.5) Fri 9:45 CBS

So Duke assistant Chris Collins has been officially named head coach at Northwestern. He can't possibly still coach with Duke this season, can he? Would seem to be a disruption with the Duke preparation for the MSU game.

Should have read the official release - they are officially naming him the head coach at Northwestern, but he will remain at Duke until their season is over and they can have a formal press conference introducing him as the head coach at Northwestern. Awkward. Just when you thought they couldn't get any lower, Northwestern's head coach is coaching as an assistant for another team.

That happens quite a bit in football and I'm sure it's happened in basketball before as well.

As for this game - if Sparty's bigs come to play and play hard, they can dominate Dook down low. if they don't or if Sparty gets sloppy with the ball, it could be a very long night.

I can't think of another instance of this happening in basketball, to be honest. It's not like football where there are 4-7 weeks of "time off" between the last game of the regular season and postseason. You had to wait maybe 2 days, maybe 4 days, at worst slightly less than 2 weeks to make this announcement. But you had to do it now? I just think it's odd for basketball.

Minnesota has some extremely talented players in-state this year (rare). So throwing a decent/big name out as the new HC, might help the recruiting effort while they can. Not the best hire, but a decent enough splash to spark some interest from prospects.

Edit: Who should I bet on now?

 how did Minnesota end up in a MSU/Dookie game thread. My money is on Sparty. I think that their big men will control the Plumber and Kelley and if their outside shooting is just a little off they could get really whacked:)

After seeing the difference in officiating between tOSU and IU games last night I'd say you will either be right, or Nix will get charged with aggravated sexual assault.
I know this is a little off topic for this thread but I thought the same thing about the difference in officiating between the two games that you mentioned. One was almost a bloodbath and one was a touch me not.
