#3 Ohio State 63, Purdue 56 (Final)

I know I'm gonna be outnumbered here being in the opposing team's forum, but I'm gonna go out and say it: this game was one of the biggest homer jobs I've seen in a while. 22 fouls on us and 12 on you guys? Come on now. Some of those were the most ticky tack calls too. What I also don't understand is you guys are obviously the large beneficiary of the foul calls, yet Thad and your fans keep whining in the 2nd half for more. I'm still proud of my guys though, played the number 3 team in the nation on their floor about as good as we could. Should help our NCAA chances.

That doesn't look like a game thread to me.

Anyway - it looks like the 'Eers are pulling away in the waning seconds against the Bruins.

With this win and that loss could we see #2 after the Buckeyes in the Polls?

bf, there were numerous bad calls and no calls for both teams. what you have to realize is that as long as we have oden on our team, there will likely be a foul advantage in our team's favor. most fouls are called near or inside the paint. greg pushes the play outside, which, again, is where fewer fouls will be called. if you agree with the call on greg where landry pulled oden's shirt... or if you agree with the other call on greg where he rebounded from the inside position, obviously you are not the one to be arguing the case for poor officiating.
That doesn't look like a game thread to me.
discussion about the ucla/wvu doesn't belong here either. though the game does possibly impact ohio state, either a new thread should be started or the discussion should be carried to the thread about college basketball in general.

poorly officiated game i guess, but you have to play through that.

ive said it before the way to beat this team is being physical. whitehead, jansen and ? are not stellar reffs.

some interesting stuff
no 3 in the second half for the bucks
purdue outrebounded by 1

pretty much could say something but ive puked out the samething for about the last 8 or so games now.

one continuing worry is oden and his foul trouble. however the game is officiated, he needs to adjust. with mattas 2 in 1 and 3 in 2 way of approaching fouls picking up two in the first half is bad and the third one early in the second half is not a good thing...

and boiler fan welcome abroad. good luck this season. painters a great coach.

Boilers should make the Dance if they continue to play as they did against the Buckeyes.

As to "homerism," I can only say we were obviously watching different games. Oden was fouled at least 15 times by your players submarining him on rebounds, grabbing his jersey and shorts, sticking their legs between his, etc. etc. He is the most-fouled player in the US.

Reminds me alot of when Shaq was in college. Teams would just drape all over him and just try to push, undercut, shove, knee out, whatever they could and hope the officials didn't call them all. Shaq wasn't a very good free throw shooter, so it was even more encouraged. I remember Coach Brown just going off in some press conferences saying that if the officials are going to continue to allow this, he couldn't fault his player for going to the league.

and nothing changed once he got there...

Party pooper.

When you have the advantage inside you're almost always going to get more foul calls. When we played North Carolina they dominated us inside and had a significant advantge in fouls. So quit your whining.

Why would you come here and cry? I didn't watch that game today but i'm sure that's not why you lost. Least you guys got a moral victory.

Not sure if you do the radio show or listen to it (AM 930), but i've never heard any announcer (the play by play guy0 complain more about the reffing in my life. I had to listen to their station when i drove out of range for 1460.

I don't think they went more than a minute or two without crying about the foul differential. My favorite part was after landry was sent to the line, and they continued to whine for about 30 seconds.

Fortunately down the stretch, the color guy began to admit that down the stretch their turnovers and missed loose balls cost them this game... not the foul disparity.

I call bullshit. You obviously didn't watch the game. The ticky tack fouls were make up calls because of the missed calls on Oden. Agreed the officials sucked ass, but mostly in the boilers favor. The dumbass calls took Oden out of the game for 15 min plus. Purdue played very well, but to call that a homer game is absolutely ignorant. I'd expect more from someone from Ft. Wayne. I spent alot of time there growing up, always liked the city. Used to go watch the Komets plenty. Use your head....
