Hey I remember that happening in the dance once. shorts were stretched clear out to busting and the trailing ref didn't call it. Maybe Matta needs to get a T over it to get them to start calling it.

I really thought he was trying to get one yesterday after Landry had ahold of Oden's jersey...

I think that the refs need to take note, and it seems that teams are going to start flopping more around Oden as to try and pick up some cheap fouls on him, there were at least 2 flops yesterday that lucky werent called, but some of these refs will call them...

Again , I didn't get to watch yesterday, just some highlights. I did get the impression Biased maybe, that the refs were more concerned with looking for fouls by Greg rather than fouls against him. Crazy Thought!

I don't think they were looking for fouls on Greg, I just think that it had more to do with the fact that the refs feel that he is so big so the other team has to get some sort of advantage so they allow them to foul and hold him...

Much like they do/did with Shaq now...

Matta will have to get that addressed and fast. We are not a complete team with Greg on the bench for 20 min a game or so

they way he went after the ref, the ref talked to him, he stepped away with two or three strides then jumped back at the official with more intensity...

also it was interesting how the officials rotated. a lot of times the officials will intentionally swith their rotation to be able to explain a call, without making it a big deal (essentially so the official can explain the call without shouting and what not.) i didnt see much of that yesterday.

this is from the toledo blade story on the poordue game. It's hard to imagine the athleticism needed to do a split like this. I would think hunter hurt himself . :tongue2:

Then they will just start holding onto his shorts...

I if the refs are going to start taking note of this or if they are going to continue to let it go on...

i think it was after the home game against Sparty that Oden said that he mooned the crowd when he went up for a rebound; the defender had a hold of his shorts and when he came down they were around his knees... no foul was called...

Then the answer is to not pull them up until the ref says to and then Greg can point out the guy who grabbed them and say "tell him to pull them up, he is the one who pulled them down." :tongue2:

NO. 3 OHIO STATE 63 PURDUE 56
OSU awakens in nick of time
Buckeyes? late-game run keeps them tied for first in Big Ten
Sunday, February 11, 2007

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

No juice.
No coffee, either.
Mix in an early morning practice, a tipoff just past noon and a half-serving of Greg Oden and it was a recipe for a wake-up call at the least. The Ohio State men?s basketball team was fortunate that?s all it got.
"We didn?t have juice from the beginning of the game, just didn?t have a flow," guard Jamar Butler said. "Toward the end, we came together and got the win. That?s what?s most important." A defensive stand keyed by Butler?s work on Purdue point guard Tarrance Crump limited the Boilermakers to one field goal and five points in the final 7:57 yesterday and enabled the Buckeyes to rally from a five-point deficit and pull out a 63-56 victory in Value City Arena.

Oden in foul trouble has big effect on Buckeyes
Sunday, February 11, 2007
BOB HUNTER

Ohio State men?s basketball fans got a prolonged look yesterday at the monster under the Buckeyes? bed.
It?s not a figment of their imagination. The monster ? Greg Oden in foul trouble ? is as real as it gets.
"It?s a concern," coach Thad Matta said. "I wouldn?t say it?s my biggest fear." If it?s really not his biggest fear ? and Matta preceded the answer with one of his long, trademark ummms ? it should be. The Buckeyes can play without the sensational 7-foot freshman, but it?s not a good idea, as their 63-56 victory over Purdue proved.

No. 3 Ohio Sate 63, Purdue 56

Buckeyes stagger, don't fall

Oden fights through foul trouble, OSU able to repel pesky Purdue

By Marla Ridenour

Beacon Journal sportswriter

COLUMBUS - Ohio State coach Thad Matta said Greg Oden has lobbied for a tearaway jersey.
Even if such a uniform were allowed, the college basketball world probably isn't ready for that kind of exposure.
Asked what would be revealed if that were the case, Oden said, ``I probably wouldn't have a jersey.''
The 7-foot freshman center should be accustomed to the holding and tugging, especially with the Buckeyes ranked No. 3 and tied with Wisconsin for the Big Ten lead. Matta knows getting his leading scorer in foul trouble is high on every opponent's wish list, whether or not foes believe he'll be the top pick in the next NBA Draft.

Oden's fouls no omen

With star on bench, Buckeyes avoid Boilermakers' upset bid
Sunday, February 11, 2007

Doug Lesmerises
Plain Dealer Reporter

Columbus -- Sometimes, Greg Oden just enjoys leveling people.
"Especially in practice, I know I just foul for the heck of it," Oden said.
Who can blame a 7-foot, 280-pounder teenager for occasionally wanting to throw his weight around?
As Ohio State continued to roll through the Big Ten with a 63-56 win over Purdue on Saturday, the Buckeyes got their strongest taste yet of what could poison their Final Four hopes. Oden's foul trouble limited him to 21 minutes of action, and when he went to the bench after picking up his fourth foul with 5:48 to play and Purdue up by one, it looked like the No. 3 team in the country was headed for its first upset loss of the season.

COLUMBUS ? When the Buckeyes were squeezed, they found their juice.
The No. 3-ranked Ohio State men's basketball team trailed Purdue by five points with eight minutes left, concerning the crowd of 18,988 Saturday at the Schottenstein Center.
We didn't have juice from the beginning of the game. We just didn't have it flowing," OSU junior guard Jamar Butler said. "Toward the end, we came together and got the win."
In the last 7:57, OSU put pressure on the Boilermakers. The Buckeyes used a 17-5 game-ending run for a 63-56 win.

Wake-up call just in time

COLUMBUS -- Jamar Butler's alarm clock went off at 8 a.m. yesterday. Fifteen minutes later, he was on the practice court at Value City Arena.

Perhaps that's why he said the Buckeyes didn't have enough ''juice'' for yesterday's noon tipoff against Purdue, which Ohio State eventually won, 63-56, but not without a fight.

Coach Thad Matta and the players agreed the morning shootaround wasn't as crisp as it should have been, which is why it lasted 15 minutes longer than expected. The lethargy carried into the game and the third-ranked Buckeyes found themselves trailing, 51-46 with eight minutes remaining.

That's when Matta called the players together during a timeout.

''Hey fellas,'' he said, ''it's time to guard.''

Cont'd...
