2021 247/Rivals/etc. National and Regional Rankings

Ohio State's 2021 class could finish with half the top-10 players.

247Sports released their final 2021 class player rankings on Wednesday afternoon, and it is extremely Buckeye heavy at the top with four of the top-10 players already signed with Ohio State and the top-rated player trending heavily towards the Buckeyes.

During the December signing period, Ohio State signed defensive end Jack Sawyer, offensive lineman Donovan Jackson, wide receiver Emeka Egbuka and running back TreVeyon Henderson – ranked No. 5, No. 6, No. 8 and No. 10, respectively.

The Buckeyes are also the heavy favorite to sign defensive end J.T. Tuimoloau, who 247Sports rates as the top overall player in the 2021 class. If Ohio State does sign Tuimoloau, that would give Ohio State five top-10 players – half the 247Sports top-10. No other team has more than two.

Yeah, so much for the CFP creating parity

I'm not sure we've ever had parity in CFB. But if we ever did, it was when there were 6 power conferences, not just 5, and the Pac 12 at least had one program to be competitive at the national level. The downswing of programs like Miami, Michigan (yuck), Texas, Florida State, USC, and Florida have left a certainly left a void within the Power 5 conferences, and those voids have been sparingly filled (and a lot of it filled even further by Ohio State/Clemson/Bama/Oklahoma). But even if we just had a slow rotation of the conference champions within the Power 6, I think we'd feel like there was parity (e.g., Penn State, Michigan State have gone to the playoffs, so have Georgia and LSU out of the SEC). Without the Pac 12 doing anything at an elite level currently, it plays out like a stagnant Power 4.

Minor correction: PSU has not been to the playoff. MSU is the only other B1G team to make it

I haven’t had time to do a deep dive, but 247 came out with their final rankings today. If JTT commits, he would give Ohio State 5 of the top 10 recruits. 12 in the top 10 (13 with Davis) and 18 in the top 247. Pretty darn impressive class

JTT 1
Jack Sawyer 5
Donovan Jackson 6
Emeka Egbuka 8
TreVeyon Henderson 10 (+1)
Mike Hall 36
Jordan Hancock 46 (-2)
Kyle McCord 48 (-1)
Jayden Ballard 54 (-3)
Reid Carrico 56 (-3)
JK Johnson 71 (-2)
Evan Pryor 100 (-1)
Tyleik Williams 123 (-1)
Jantzen Dunn 146 (-2)
Marvin Harrison Jr 159 (-3)
Zen Michalski 207 (+2)
Denzel Burke 220 (+2)
Ben Christman 223 (+2)

Raesjon Davis 69 (-2) would be only other commit possibly

Losing Latham really hurts looking at that top 10, but that is obvious.

Overall pretty good rankings but I have no idea on earth how McCord and Harrison aren't ranked higher after the seasons they had and their senior film. Oh well, they are going to show they should have been ranked higher once they get here.

I too miss the old Big East.

Bama just signed high 4* safety Terrion Arnold.

Bama's 2021 recruiting class sets a record for overall points (327.91) and average per recruit (95.00).

The Tide signed seven 5* star prospects and 15 in the top-100 of the 247 Composite.

Alabama had to sign 27 recruits to get to that number. I'm just hoping they already know they won't be getting J.T. Tuimoloau and didn't save a scholarship for him.....
