You'll have a good time in Cincy. If I had to pick an Ohio city to spend a long weekend in (that wasn't centered around anything Ohio State related), it would be Cincy over Columbus or Cleveland. Wouldn't live there, but that's another discussion.

I just had a mini stroke reading ORD's reply.
I also want to give a second reccomendation to the US Airforce Museum. It's free admission. And you could spend two days reading and looking at everything in the four hangers and silo. Right now they have an exhibit of Air Force One planes including the one that carried JFK home from Dallas. Quite a bit of history to soak in with that.

Cincinnati is a good medium sized city. Old, lots of history, a few decent downtown bar and restaurant districts and decent cultural institutions. It doesn't negate my amusement at the culture of aggrieved separatism or my disgust with recent UC leadership though.
My take on Ohio cities:
Place to visit for a weekend: Cincinnati
Place to live: Columbus
Place to send a kid to college: Columbus or Gambier
Place to catch a D-Cell in the back of the head for rooting for the visiting team: Cleveland

Just wear a pro-Brexit button (and not a bloody safety pin) and you'll be welcome most anywhere (although geographic context is important). Lager is lager no matter where you go. Well, sort of. Cheers and have what sounds like a great trip.

Well, I've been back a week now and have to say you've got one hell of a State going on there. The mid-west is a very welcoming area, I met so many great people and the fact I was a Buckeyes fan on a solo pilgrimage to Ohio kept me in beers for most of the trip! It was a nice change going somewhere where tourists are appreciated rather than tolerated (I'm looking at you, New York!!). Same goes for KY and IN, lovely place to visit.
I managed to get most of the touristing done, have to say my favorite place was Hocking Hills - I went back 3 times and covered it as much as I could because that place is spectacular. I went to Skyline as instructed, and was pleased to find a restaurant who understands the correct amount of cheese to put on a meal. I have to say though I was a bit flustered when the waitress offered me a 3-way as that means something very different back home! I went to the zoo to pay my respects to Harambe, but decided to keep the D in as there was a lot of school groups about, I thought getting arrested and deported would be a sad end the trip!
'The Game' was extraordinary, one of the most incredible experiences of my life and one of the best games of anything I've ever seen. The football/soccer team I have my season ticket for (Nottingham Forest ... for those of you who have any idea what that is) play in front of about 20,000 every week, when we're doing well, so to be at the 'shoe for the record attendance game was amazing. I'm going to be paying off my Buckeye Corner spending spree for many years to come though!
The Spartans game was p*ssing freezing, turned out to be a 10 hour round trip and involved a flat tire on the way home in the snow. Talking of snow, Michigan snow can f**k all the way off. I like me some snow, but that place is all kinds of grim.
The only downside to the trip was us not making the B1G final, although when it came to the game I don't think I could have coped supporting either team on the night. Was sat with another Buckeye who, like me, quite enjoyed the night off!
