Hard work pays off for Africentric's Dailyn Swain with Ohio State scholarship offer
Adam Jardy
Buckeye Xtra

“I can’t really explain (it), but it definitely is a great feeling considering I grew up an Ohio State fan,” Swain said. “The local team is such a big deal, and everyone is crazy about Ohio State. It definitely made me feel like I’m doing something right and I’m headed down the right path, but it also tells me I could be a lot better and I can go somewhere pretty serious with this.”

He's listed as a forward by most recruiting services, but Bates said he’s a point guard who might still grow another inch or two. He shot 41% from three as a freshman and 40% as a sophomore, said the coach, who described him as a “true playmaker,” who is capable of guarding the 1-4 positions.

“He’s out in those passing lanes (on defense),” the coach said. “He has great anticipation skills. He rebounds. He can score it. He’s a complete player. He’s a two-way player. He’s a joy to coach because he really soaks in all of that information.”

FOUR-STAR 2023 FORWARD DAILYN SWAIN SAYS OHIO STATE ISN'T “JUST ANOTHER SCHOOL,” BUT NOT “A LEADER” IN HIS RECRUITMENT

After performing at Ohio State’s high school team camp alongside his teammates at Africentric on Thursday, Swain sounded like a prospect with a healthy and positive relationship with the Buckeyes. But he closed his interview session by saying they aren’t necessarily a frontrunner to land his services.

“I wouldn’t say it’s just another school, but I wouldn’t say it’s a leader, either,” Swain said. “I feel like I’m feeling everybody out. I got a couple schools coming in that haven’t offered yet that I really like, too.”

Ohio State Basketball should go after this top local transfer

It's officially transfer portal season and Jake Diebler should waste no time trying to bring in this talented local transfer for the Ohio State basketball team.

While missing the NCAA Tournament for a third straight season, and not partaking in any other form of postseason action, it puts the Ohio State basketball team fully into offseason mode. Not having any idea what this roster could look like next season, it’s another important offseason for Jake Diebler to try and get the Buckeye Basketball program back into the national spotlight again.

Even though the NCAA Tournament just got through the first weekend of play, the transfer portal in College Basketball has officially opened. While it seems strange that it doesn’t wait to open until after the season comes to an end, this is also a good opportunity for Jake Diebler and the Ohio State basketball team to get a head start on attacking the transfer portal.

We’ve already seen lots of players enter their names into the transfer portal, but there’s one in particular that Jake Diebler should target:

NEWS: Xavier wing Dailyn Swain is entering the transfer portal, he tells @On3sports.

The 6-8 sophomore averaged 11.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game this season. https://t.co/gkFjYwbrii pic.twitter.com/D0OgnIUl25
