There's three on each (four on Canada). Two of the USA players (Barnes and Bilka) are alums playing professionally.Even more dishearteningly, there are more Buckeyes on Sweden than USA.
Ohio State
- Joy Dunne, USA
- Mira Jungåker, Sweden
- Jenna Raunio, Sweden
- Hilda Svensson, Sweden
- Sanni Vanhanen, Finland
Aside from Minnesota, we recruit Canada and Europe pretty heavily. The Canadians are Canadian. The Swedes are Swedish. I actually wouldn't be surprised if there are no Ohioans on the Buckeye team. There just is nowhere near the level of high school play in the state to fuel a national championship caliber program. How does that work? I get that one lives in the country, born or naturalized, you can compete for that country in the olympics. But there are several (probably more than several Buckeye women hockey players) that are 'ringers' for a country? Would imagine some sort of NIL payola is involved....
