2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

They could have shifted the line more, and maybe given Sayin another blocker in the backfield, but I rewatched a lot of the the game, and Sayin just flat out wouldn't throw the ball. Missed guys wide open. Like untouched for multiple TDs wide open. Its really hard to call offense and move the ball when your QB is just frozen. Its going to be interesting if he can shake off hits next year. Because this year he started to get that "Deer in the headlights" look, and sometimes guys can't shake that.

Obviously he has the talent, and the mind to win the heisman, I just hope we get tested more throughout the year next year, so he can work through more growing pains before its do or die.
That was a little alarming. We heard all year that quick processing was a strength of his and it was a weakness in the last 2 games.

Good article. I’ve been thinking about this since the season ended. Per the article, that sweet spot seems to be anything over 200 yards rushing. Julian finished with -44 yards for the year in 2025. Only two quarterbacks since 2014 have rushed for under 100 yards and won the championship.

Julian doesn’t have to go win a game with his legs. He just needs to move the chains some and keep the offense on schedule occasionally. It amounts to roughly 20 yards a game and likely more like 2-3 seven to ten yard runs per game. In other words 2-3 first downs or so.

I have doubts they’ll include Julian in the run game. Ryan Day never has and he’s normally gone out of his way to NOT run the QB.

Your second paragraph is spot on. The play that sticks out to me is in the BIG Championship on 3rd down late in the game. He rolled right and could have easily scrambled for the first. Instead he threw incomplete when there really wasn’t anyone open. We missed the short FG on the next play.

Momentum killed

All I want for (insert next holiday) is a true Head Coach for the Offense!

We are not the type of program in this new era where we hire newbies to cut their teeth in OC and DC coordinator positions. I don't care if they were an OC at another college program or the pros, but I want them to be experienced in that position before they come here.

Whining over. Bring me the new season!!!

That’s why I can’t stand these podcasts saying how much regret we should have after losing this playoff.

First off we just won the title and you can’t win them all. I’ve been lucky enough to see 3 in 23 years. So winning once every 7 years is a pretty good life.

Second, our OL got blown up for two games. If you’re getting whipped up front then I almost never feel like 2019 Clemson or 2022 UGA. We were lucky it was close because of our defense.

Third, we didn’t do the small things (chop wood carry water right) to win such as pick up a crucial first down with the QB. In fact we did the opposite by slipping on the QB sneak late, missing the FG twice, and failed to punch it in when we needed it.
