2026 tOSU Offense Discussion

Gotta fix the line. I think that last night showed that Siervold is a guard, period. Line play was much better in the second half when Moore came in at left tackle. Ohio State needs actual tackles playing the position.

Agree. I give him huge credit for being able to play LT. Never thought he'd be one to switch and he did a great job, but against mid-good talent. He'd be best at RG with the ability to swing out to OT if needed. Would give them great flexibility.

I agree. Part of me wonders if Day wants to promote Bailey.

I'm sure he wants to keep him on as co-OC, but I hope he knows they can't afford to make him sole OC and stay in-house at this point. It's clear the offense has suffered the last 2 times they've tried to promote from within just to keep rising star coaches from leaving. Not sure what the top names are, but it has to be someone with a ton of success structuring and calling plays. Preferably better in the run game.

I hope he goes NFL, like Patricia.

Bottom line is Ryan Day has to go get someone who can customize the offense to fit what we are best suited to do.

If that means introducing different formations etc then so be it. We shouldn’t be saying “you have to run the Ohio State offense” because what if we aren’t equipped to run the offense from 2019?

I think the offense is sort of stale too. Doesn’t need a total overhaul but certainly we should be introducing different formations.

Donovan Jackson was a ridiculous outlier as it relates to the success of a situation like that. Time to knock that shit off and play people at their natural spot.

The most important thing I want to know is who will be the leader on the offensive side of the ball? My view as an outsider is there is no one currently I can point to as being that person. Will it be Smith, Sayin or someone else?

I wonder the same for the defensive side.

Who will be the Will Howard or Jack Sawyer next year?

Athleticism is the big issue with the OL currently. Miami athletic pass rushers were just running past our OL almost unimpeded while our guys looked like they were playing in quicksand.

The first sack was comical. Both stunters had ran past our OL and gotten to Sayin almost before our guys could even get turnt to even try to block them
