Theres still a large amount of them who think a flood of coaches and players from programs who's peak years have been 10 win seasons in the Big 12/Pac 12 with much more 8ish win type seasons in-between are going to come to the B1G and suddenly become annual national contenders which is peak DFBIA hopium

I think things may be worse than even they look right now for them. Boob Salsa's message to the people this morning was basically "yes Michigan is currently behind the ball on the portal right now but don't panic because there's definitely a plan" which likely means they didn't see some of these coming and are scrambling for solutions.

Just sayin': Reminds me of a Mile Tyson quote....

And yet their top linebacker is visiting Oklahoma

So basically the whole scUM coaching staff is Whittinghams pals and family. Lol. This couldn't be going any better. It might be semi worrying if he woulda reached out of his personal sphere for more experienced national college type guys but they really are basically a Big 12/Pac 12 team in the B1G now

Like an Adam Sandler movie post (insert whatever year you think his movies started sucking)… the results are shitty, but hey, at least he and all his friends get a pay check and a bunch of stupid people will pay for it (with apologies to anyone who really liked Jack and Jill).

They are going to be appalled when no high level transfers (Except for maybe the ones coming from Utah/BYU and even then it would have to be seen how those guys adjust) are lining up to play for a 66 year old head coach who's spent his whole career at Utah and his staff of guys who have mostly spent their whole careers in that sphere as well.

If a position coach is leaving a NFL job to become a position coach in college it's highly likely he wasn't going to be asked to comeback to that position by the NFL team he was with
Alex Whittingham enters his eighth season with Kansas City in 2025 and first as assistant defensive line coach. Prior to his promotion, Whittingham served two seasons as a defensive assistant (2024, 2018) and five seasons as a defensive quality control coach (2019-2023).

Just sayin': He had been there 8 years and I doubt that he was going to be fired. He really wasn't a position coach; he was a "position coaches' assistant". See below, it does appear that he could possibility be getting a pay increase at scUM; regardless at scUM he'd be a "full fledged position coach"....

According to USA TODAY's database, Martindale led all Michigan assistants with a salary of $2.3 million in 2024, followed by first-year defensive line coach Lou Esposito at $1.286 million. Linebackers coach and defensive run game coordinator Brian Jean-Mary, who re-joined Michigan's staff after a brief stint with Tennessee, at $1.155 million and Campbell was fourth at $950,000. The $9.384 million number also includes any one-time payments such as retention payments or signing bonuses.
Here are the rest of the salaries for Michigan's 10 on-field assistants.
  • Running backs coach and run game coordinator Tony Alford, $885,000.
  • Defensive backs coach and defensive pass game coordinator LaMar Morgan, $858,000.
  • Offensive pass game coordinator and wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy, $600,000.
  • Offensive line coach Grant Newsome, $600,000.
  • Tight ends coach Steve Casula, $400,000.
  • Special teams coordinator J.B. Brown, $350,000.

Google AI: NFL assistant position coaches earn a wide range, from around $100K to $400, annually, with averages often cited near $400,000.
