COLUMBUS — The Canton Central Catholic High School football team's season has received a second life.
The OHSAA ruled that No. 8 seed Youngstown Liberty used an ineligible player during its 26-16 win against No. 9 seed Central in a Division V, Region 17 first-round playoff game Friday night, Oct. 30.
Liberty must forfeit that win, so it is the Crusaders who will advance to play at No. 1 seed Lake County Perry on Nov. 6 in a regional quarterfinal.
It makes me wonder if this has always been going on in high school football and OSHAA is stepping up their enforcement game or are things just getting dumber out there about how far adults will push things with even high school sports.
