2025 tOSU Defense Discussion

Is there any data out there on the corners? I am curious to know how many times Matthew’s has been targeted and what his allowed completion % is.

He hasn’t gotten much public praise because there’s an obscene amount of national limelight on Reese, Doens and to an extent Styles — but Matthew’s at times you almost wouldn’t know was on this team unless you’re a fan.

I have a sneaking suspicion his numbers look insanely good.

Let's take a look at some Proof Points from Ohio State's win over Rutgers to advance to 11-0 on the season:

66 Rushing Yards

Ohio State's defense is dominant; we already knew that. The Silver Bullets proved that yet again against Rutgers. After holding Rutgers to just 66 yards on the ground, this season's version of the Buckeyes' defense has now done something that has never been done before in program history, as OSU has now held 10 straight opponents to less than 100 rushing yards.

Overall, the Scarlet Knights had a top-40 offense entering the game and were held to just 147 total yards and nine points.

Not only did OSU dominate against the run, but Rutgers – who had a top-25 passing attack entering the day – only had 81 yards through the air, as Athan Kaliakmanis completed just 10 of 20 passes in the game.
