2025 Spring Practices, Spring Game, and other Tidbits

Few thoughts.

1. Sayin is in year two now and he really is quick getting the ball out. He seems heads and shoulders our best but Lincoln has come back nice after a nervous start I think. I find there’s an enormous leap from spring to fall and that should be exciting for everyone. Yeah I think I’ll just shut up about maybe a transfer portal QB lol because…

2. I think we need 2 DTs. I think this OL is going to be special but these huge rush lanes aren’t exactly wonderful lol. I’ve heard basically every outlet say we’re going to need to address DT and I think we will have to. I think Harmon from Oregon was a 2nd portal window guy and that’s the kind of guy you have to hope becomes available.

3. The skill players are ridiculous. Might be hyperbole but this could be the best yet. Smith, Tate, Innis but what Klare can do with safeties worried about the perimeter is just brutal. Great point by Jake Butt during the game. Teams will be so occupied with doubling JJ that down the seam Klare will likely be 1 on 1 vs a LB. The tight end room is no joke overall.

4. The run game looks similar to the playoffs (thank god). Tons of gap and counters which is great because it seems that’s what we do best.

Concerns about our DL but also wondering if our OL is just that good.

Right that’s the hard part with these games. Probably a bit of both.

We have to remember what this OL did to 4 really good teams in the playoffs which was largely because of dominant interior play. Which all those guys are back again.

On a side note, I really hope Graham doesn’t bolt. He’s special

I guess a team could drop a bag in the portal, but something tells me he’s going to be rotating 50/50 with Inniss and pushing him all year. And I imagine we’ll be seeing more passing attempts, too.

Been saying this for most of the last few years ever since we lost Williams. Really need rotate a bit more at WR. Last few years it seems we only play 3 but like you say we should really find a way to rotate in Graham.

My hope is that coming off an NC, they’re looser with the rotations, although I think last year was better as it went on. Inniss and Rodgers saw more time. No reason not to play 5 guys in a lot of snaps.
