2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments - NCAA: no wins taken away, no postseason ban

I remember some words in an early TBDBITL album (big 12 inch vinyl plastic, 331/3 "record" that came in a cardboard "album cover" with a picture of the band on the front) "... someday fans may show up just to see the band." That may become my excuse to continue attending games that are as tightly regulated as WWE wrestling.

This is disappointing on so many levels, but especially in light of the "free market" aspects of NIL. Not even the NFL allows that.

Colleges brought the NCAA into existence due to their own inability/refusal to set the rules. This ruling is basically the NCAA throwing it's hands into the air and saying, "We give up."

I hear Pate said the networks wouldn't let a postseason ban happen. So essentially Fox is fucking us with big noon and no consequence cheating.
And why not have any games vacated? Or championships?

The championship will be a footnote, the perception will live forever.
If the baseball guys on steroids ever get into the HOF, it may be the same thing - for a long time, except for the fans of the cheaters, anyone who sees that the cheaters are listed as the 2023 champions will just laugh about it.

Hilarious are the DFBIA acting like scUM was vindicated here. The actual findings were very damning and show a out of control dirty program culture. Problem of course is the COI limp dicked the actual punishment, they lose nothing so they could care less about the findings.

That actually may be a negative for TTUN in the long run. If he got a one year show cause, and had grounds to fire him, they could go out and swipe at a bigger hire. Now they are kind of married to each other.

Sherrone didn't get the job based on merit, he likely knows where more bodies are buried, the head coaching job equals his silence.

You know, I generally think people who declare that they'll quit watching college football because of changes in tradition or even NIL are whiny bitches. This though actually warrants that reaction.

Like if the governing body won't even enforce its own rules regarding on the field cheating, then what the fuck are we even doing here?
It is just a rapidly changing world. Every old establishment that was ingrained in culture is now or so to be turned on its head.

Players now get paid, are able to freely move between programs. They have agents. They demand top notch facilities and training.

The colleges are collectively joining together to form super conferences that will be more focused on revenue, and less so on just acclaim and bragging rights.

Coaches are demanding exorbitant salaries, and the expectation now is each big team needs huge staffs made up of former NFL guys, using the top of the line equipment and software analytics.

There used to be four or five places to watch sports through a basic cable system. Now everybody is cutting the cord, and interchange between different streaming services, if they aren't just pirating it all together.

News is gone and people just keep through independent sources and podcasts.

If you view the decision through that weird lense, it smells funny but it tracks.

What doesn't make sense is how on Earth can the NCAA expect any respect going forward. As to teams like ASU, I hope they sue the NCAA for fraud and overreach, because there is now a new precedent.

If the NCAA continues to exist in the future, it is anybody's guess.
