2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

Can those package deal offers for consumer products and free tickets be far away?

No probably not, when the hammer comes down and I expect that the new scUM President and the Board of Regents will want to "clean house". Sherrone Moore will be proven to be a cheat and a liar; they will need to bring some sort of credibility to the program,. Sherrone Moore (and probably Warde Manuel) will be fired "for cause", there will be a few years of no post season play, many of their better players will transfer, they will hire a new head coach who will hire new assistants, and (needless to say) attendance will suffer for a few years too.

I was on board until you said Abita. I've had 3 or 4 of their beers, and they all tasted like the water was pulled straight out of the Bayou, unfilterd.
:-) Couldn't find a listing of NOLA beers - last time I was here I had a dark beer called Voodoo something or other. Was grest with Gumbo. A-phib has forced me into early retirement from alcohol - one beer on Fridays. Last hard drink was three fingers of Oban single malt to celebrate the Bucks Natty. 82 's a bitch. Final note, WW II Museum is the five star level of museums. Spent about 5 hours there this morning/afternoon and barely scratched the surface.

Yeah, but did the gumbo have any tomatoes?

Just asking for a friend.......
Tomateaux Quinoa Gumbeaux

Rice, peppers, okra, shrimp, sausage.... no tomatoes, or funny little pasta. But I'd be willing to at least give it a taste. Had red beans and rice with hot sausage and a dozen oysters. Pity anyone sitting close to me on the plane tomorrow.

I was thinking the governor should probably remove a member or two from the board of regents as part of this housecleaning. But when I looked up whether she could, I discovered regents are elected at large in biennial statewide elections. That seems like an odd way to select university leadership. In contrast, members of the Ohio State University board of trustees are selected by the governor.

In Colorado, the CU regents are all elected: One from each of the eight Congressional districts and one at large.

Here's the thing - sure if they used an ineligible player or whatever, I could understand the NCAA being lenient. BUT...

CJ Stroud was robbed of the Heisman
OSU, PSU and others were potentially robbed of victories
Gamblers paid out much more than they should have

I can't see the NCAA not doing anything. It's not that they don't have to balls to do something, it's that they don't have the balls to do nothing.

I don't think the NCAA cares about any of that. And I don't think they should. They don't have to. Michigan broke rules to give them an advantage, that advantage gave them a title. Don't need any of that other tangential noise.....it's enough on it's own.

Man, I want to be on that page, but my cynicism is really ramping up. First of all, Warde knows where the bodies are buried. I can't see them firing him with or without cause. Second, the culture of that institution is drenched in self-obsession and victim fetishism. Any meaningful punishment, and they will scream victimhood to the rafters. Third, the cynic in me really is starting to see the ncaa pushing this to opening week in the hopes that a slap on the wrist will be drowned out by actual games.

I'll agree they don't care about 1. or 2. But OSU and others will be in their ear about it. The main thing I think is 3. Gambling institutions, not traditionally the most understanding and patient, aren't going to be happy about getting ripped off, which is what happened if we are being honest. They will do something.

Starting to believe we're all whistling by the graveyard. The longer it takes, you'd think that the more stuff they'd unearth. Now, seems like they're wondering how to package/market the result, to show they're actually doing something, but not so it hamstrings the school (the slap on the wrist). Hadn't thought of the timing element, letting the result get lost in the enthusiasm of start of college football. Was very saddened to see that the head of the B10 stumping for leniency for Xichigan, because many of the other B10 teams suffered because of it. This guy might find that the 'other teams' reps will have hardened hearts when his contract comes up for renewal.

The more time that goes by, the more I’m beginning to believe punishment will be relatively light. The NCAA may be a paper tiger that just wants to minimize impact on the networks. The powers that be in Michigan probably just want it to go
away.

What happened to the days when the mob would break people's thumbs or shins? Are those days done? Did they ever really exist or is that just in the movies?
