2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, etc.

WTF is wrong with UF bringing on a jock-sniffing clown trying to escape an impending blood-letting and that is currently drowning in lawsuits for other icky behavior? They're supposedly a respectable academic institution...
Went to a UF message board. Response was pretty pathetic. Some of them are crowing about how "next level" "stealing" tcun's President is. Most are ecstatic about the jock sniffing and feel that Ono will do everything to get them back on top and will protect the foosball no matter what. Well, I guess they're right about that last bit.

This weak ass "self imposed" suspension seems like it's more a desperation move to try to help public perception and improve their "look we are the real victims here!" card when the NCAA does lay some kind of hammer. "We self imposed and suspended our dear leader for 2 games and the NCAA still was out to get us!"

It's as if they think they're Texas or something basking in the reflected prestige of being like scUM.. Maybe they think it makes them the Harvard of the south.

Here's a thought -

I am a new president taking over a once proud University. Do I want to continue to squabble with the NCAA on a "he said/she said" basis that continues to make UM look shabby?

Or do I want to open the books and push the football program onto it's own sword over an issue with which I have no connection.

He would piss off a lot of people, but is it time to decide if they are an academic or athletic instution?

I'm guessing there'll be some adjustment back from Ono's insanity, but the institution is still genetically incapable of admitting fault. We'll see. I know that if I was a respected academic, my condition for taking the job would be to have carte blanche on dealing with the ncaa/football and to let them know that the jock-sniffing is now over.

In the end, Ono accomplished one thing: He exposed them as the football factory that they so piously like to accuse everyone else (particularly us) of being.

"So, let's suspend him for Games 3 and 4. We're self-imposing this punishment. That shows the NCAA that we're proactive on punishing our coaches for doing shit they shouldn't be doing. We aren't a 'win first' organization."
"But why Games 3 and 4? Why not Games 1 and 2?"
"Because Game 2 is against Oklahoma. We want our head coach available for this. The nation will be watching."
"So winning that game is important?"
"Yep."
"It's more important than punishing our coaches?"
"First, we want to win that game. After that, our first priority is to punish people who deserve it."
"So that is the second priority."
"No, it's our first priority, after winning that game."
"Seems to me that you're trying to be a 'win first' organization."

Not that I want to give Moore any credit as a coach, but how funny would it be to lose Games 3 and 4, after winning Game 2?

I wonder if it would have been better for their investigation and potential penalties had they officially shit-canned Ono?
Absolutely, but that would have amounted to an admission that they were wrong and that bad things had gone down in the football program and the university leadership knew and covered it up. They just can't bring themselves to do that. That they let him weasel out of town on his own terms should be another nail in their coffin.

Shamelessly stolen from the Sparty board.

There's a very good chance they lose @ Oklahoma anyway and also lose that 4th game @ Nebraska

They will limp dick past New Mexico and Central Michigan regardless
