You can get away with bad missed throws and turnovers against Purdue and NW but doing that against more capable teams will get you to lose badly

Truth be told The Game matters for seeding and bragging rights, not for us getting into the CFP. One of these days you might be confronted with the dilemma to sit a Smith and/or Tate for the playoffs

It's kind of like when a planet killer sized asteroid goes by. It makes you remember that this is all random luck and probabilities. Sooner or later, it's going to happen. Someone is going to rest starters for The Game.

Exactly.

Just playing devils advocate here; You sit guys in The Game, if you lose then that's an extra week off with no CCG and the price you pay is a an extra CFP game at home. The seeding "penalty" after that means shit. So why wouldn't you at least consider this from a practical perspective when your two main guys are dinged up and could use a couple weeks off?
