2025 scUM Shenanigans, Arguments, Arrogant Twatwaffles, Emasculated Cucks, Feckless Marmots, Dirty Cheaters "Mid"chigan

Agreed, this was the best possible hire for them, and he fits them with his play style. What will be interesting is how he can assemble talent by recruiting and the Portal. He consistently had classes in the 30s and 40s, and took a few years to properly utilize the Portal. I wonder if he leans on the Portal heavily like Cignetti, because at his age he may want to deal with players in their 20s rather than fight to get a 18yo and then have to develop. I think this hire was closer to being more for the reasoning of cleaning house and completely moving on from the Hairball era. This wasn't the big swing to compete for NCs every year

Whittingham and his assistants he's bringing all being pretty much exclusively west region guys makes for a potential interesting conflict. There are very different attitudes at play here from what they are used to at scUM. Though the play style on the field is similar it's a pretty big move away from the "Michigan man" Harbaugh type.

I wouldn't be shocked if cultures clash and it does end up being a disaster. But with their luck they will be a stable 9 win team and maybe make the playoff like 2/5 years (being eliminated early)
This is more what I was thinking, and this post seems to be quite accurate

scUM fans were going to jump for joy regardless of who was hired. But Kyle really isn't much different than Kirk. He will win the games he's supposed, and have an occasional upset. But still have a 9-10win season ceiling. And he's not coming with the QB whisperer mystic like Hairball.

JSN begs to differ:

OSU fans should probably pump the brakes on that one themselves.

Utah was using a converted running back to cover a bunch of future 1st rounders because they were so depleted. All in all given the talent disparity, you really can't argue that Willingham did "more with less" that game.

He's too good a coach for this to be a disaster. I think the floor with him is 8-5, maybe 7-6 if they can't plug holes on the roster. If he's there five years, I expect a few 9-4/10-3 seasons, with maybe an 8-5/11-2 mixed in. This is a "steady" hire, not a "dynamic" one, IMO.

I hear ya, but we also had Wilson and Olave sitting out. It could have been worse and wouldn’t have been a game if both teams were with full strength.

The year to watch is 2027, year 2. Strikes me as the kind of guy who comes in and gets more out of the talent some shitbird left behind and couldn't do anything with (Tressel scenario)

We replaced 1st rounders with 1st rounders.

He had to use a converted running back and that was the guy who was consistently torched.

and it still almost wasn't enough. I don't see how that is in any way a knock on Willingham or an excuse for Day.

This is mainly why they settled on him, he's more than likely to bring zero controversy and the higher ups there know it's going to take a long time to fix things after their recent fiascos. They coulda done worse but they aren't gonna be any better than the better pre cheating Harbaugh years
Actually this is the kind of hire they need right now.

Damage control 101.

Fair enough, but Matt Barnes isn't our DC anymore ... At any rate, the main narrative here is "fuck Michigan" so let's not cloudy that up.
