Ellison has no real affiliation to scUM outside of his gold digging wife, he bought them the QB but it's not a free open check book like Knight is for Oregon.

Most programs looking for a new HC have three things to do: Find candidates, vet them, successfully negotiate a contract. And a lot of peograms take significant time doing these three things.

If Michigan is whole heatedly serious about their endeavor to clean up their University they have to: Run an investigation of their entire athletic department, wait for the results (at the very quickest it will take months), clear out the rot, vet replacements for Manuel etc., find HC candidates, vet them and successfully negotiate a contract.

If Michigan sincerely wants to clean up their act and run a clean program, there's no way they can do anything other than have an interim HC for a year.
