2025 Heisman Trophy Discussion

So true. Last years game when he came in allegedly with a knee injury he hurt us with his legs.

Thank God that Franklin forgot he had Tyler Warren on the team once Warren got them to the five yard line ....
I think the pass was supposed to go to Tyler Warren, who posted up at the 1 yard line.
6'6" 257.

Against Lathan Ransom.
6'1" 210

Post up in the end zone and throw it to him. Ohio State did it a couple of times against Clemson in 2020.

Another time Jimmy Eff blew it.

Slight credit to Allar for not getting sacked - JT had gotten around the end and it wasn't long before he's on Allar. Slight credit - not much credit.

Arch Manning's Heisman Trophy odds plummet after dreadful first start against Ohio State, no longer favorite

Arch Manning's tough day in Columbus saw his Heisman odds plummet

Coming into the season many in the Manning family were trying to pump the brakes on the hype surrounding Arch Manning's first year as a starter at Texas, and it appears the betting public would've been wise to heed the calls for patience from the elder Mannings.

Arch's first start for the No. 1 Longhorns came in hostile territory against No. 3 Ohio State, and the junior struggled mightily in the Horseshoe in a 14-7 loss. Manning went 17-for-30 passing for 170 yards, one touchdown and a woeful interception in the third quarter.

While the final stats weren't a complete catastrophe thanks to a pair of late big plays, it was a rough first start for Manning that took some shine off of his public perception as the next great quarterback in college football.

That was reflected most in the betting odds, as after starting the day as the 5-1 favorite to win the Heisman Trophy at FanDuel Sportsbook, Manning plummeted to third at 13-1, tied with Ohio State receiver Jeremiah Smith and trailing new co-favorites Clemson QB Cade Klubnik and LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier at 15/2.

Updated Heisman Trophy odds

  • Cade Klubnik (15/2)
  • Garrett Nussmeier (15/2)
  • Jeremiah Smith (13-1)
  • Arch Manning (13-1)
  • LaNorris Sellers (16-1)
  • Drew Allar (16-1)
  • Ty Simpson (16-1)
  • Carson Beck (18-1)
  • Jackson Arnold (20-1)
  • Sam Leavitt (20-1)
  • Julian Sayin (25-1)

Still September, but guys that either threw 5 picks or 10 straight incompletions yesterday have slid down the list.

When did the Heisman committee decide they would die on the hill of the award going to a QB?

I know it's generally been a QB award for a long time but I don't recall ever seeing it be this forced.

This is sad.

Its because there is no "best qb" award. How else is a qb supposed to win hardware? He can't win Outland, ya know?

Qbs have long been under appreciated for what they bring to a team. We all know this.

True.

If I was going to create some kind of QB award, I'd name it after some Irish prick no one has ever heard of before. Just confuse the fuck out of people. Like Jimmy O'Bannon or something. Even funnier in this day and age when most QB's are black guys.

Often times college football fans and the media become so enthralled with touchdown passes, elusive runs, ferocious tackles and quarterback sacks that we lose sight of other important matters of college athletics. The Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the top upperclassmen quarterback by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation encapsulates all that is positive in college sports. The award acknowledges performance on the field for sure, but it goes beyond completion percentage and touchdown strikes. The award values character, citizenship, integrity and those who honor the game.
