2025 Cotton Bowl: #2 tOSU vs #10 Miami-FL, Wed 12/31 7:30 ET at JerryWorld

Hey everyone who said you’d rather beat Michigan than win a title; how you like these apples?

Joking aside — poop. That is all. Congrats to the Canes, that has to feel /amazing/ over two decades later.

Fun season. Now I really want to know who our next OC is going to be.

Happy end to 2025, all. See ya next year.
I'm much happier this season. We beat the fucks that we cannot lose to.

I've said it before. I want to win every game obviously.

I NEED to beat TSUN.

Its that simple for me.

I'm still processing to be honest.

I do know this is the least amount of upset I have been after a loss in forever. Possibly ever.

Is that because of The Game or because of the recent NC? Little of both probably.

This plus I honestly feel the team overachieved. The way they dominated led to higher expectations, but that was probably too much to ask given the inexperience and losses to the NFL. The only thing that hurts is that the team was probably two or three plays away from an undefeated season. It's not like they got ran off the field by anyone.

Somehow I retain some give a shit regarding the CFP rooting for Indiana.
l honestly thought we could easily lose this game if the Oline didn’t perform, and they didn’t.
nuff said, screw Xichigan!
I said it why we lost to Indiana it wasn't the pressure alone. It was the pressure and Sayin being confused by the coverages.

Same thing appears to have happened this game. For whatever reason he didn't trust his eyes especially in the first half. Pressure without confusion he rips that to Klare. Confusion without pressure he dumps it to Innis for 10 even if he missed the TD. Both you end up with a sack. And then a bad snap with a rushed throw that goes the other way.

He’s not a freshman anymore, the coverages shouldn’t have confused him.

Sometimes NFL qb's get got. Expecting a redshirt freshman facing that kind of heat to be perfect is unreasonable. He'll get better. In fact most QBs improve most between year one and year 2 of starting.

If he was 5th year senior I'd be super frustrated. But with RS Frosh is it annoying he missed it sure and I'm sure looking at the film he'll tell you he should have had it coming out his hand at that point. But I'm not going to rip the kid for missing some plays when even NFL qb's get shook by unrelenting pressure.

Since I'm a glutton for punishment, I went back to watch the first four drives to see how consistent the silent count timing was, as it relates to Miami being capable of timing the snap.

Amateur timer here with a cell phone app. I stopwatched it from when Luke gave the ready signal to when Carson snapped it.

First 4 drives

On the pick six, bain was a yard off the ball and moving forward before the snap began. He hesitated a moment, otherwise he probably could have hit the ball before it fully left Julian's hand.

In the same boat. Winning The Game felt full circle and I said I would be happy if the ended then, so I need to hold myself to that. And you can't win a NC every year, especially with the playoff system. It hurts because the play calling was pretty abysmal and to be immediately out of the playoffs looking as bad as we did is a big yikes.

One of the potentially bigger concerns with not making a bigger run is what we are likely to have left on the team after early departures, graduation and transfers, in addition to pretty large gaps in recruiting between us and the teams paying big NIL... the divide is going to be real starting next year imo. Seeing it in action with Miami is just the start if we don't adjust our NIL strategy, but that's for another thread.
