2025 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

1. For the record, I like the straight seeding method better.
2. The reason for this change is about the worst logic ever. Imagine if you're in a Rock/Paper/Scissors contest, best X out of Y. And in the first round, you go with Scissors, and your opponent goes with Rock. Does that mean Scissors is the worst and you should never use it again? Of course not.
I do think that conference winners should get something, though. How much fun will this board be when Notre Dame goes 11-1 and gets in over a 12-1 team that won its conference? I suppose that will be unlikely if that team is in the Big Ten or SEC, so maybe it won't be that big of a deal. Maybe the answer is to go to 16 and get rid of byes. Then, we'll see more blowouts in the first round, and people will have something new to cry about.

This is the most "checked out" of college football changes I've ever been. I have opinions, but I simply don't have anything to get pissed off about. I figure this is due to a couple of factors:

1). It's all gonna change again in 3-4 years so why get all worked up about it
2). The crazy sport we all grew up on is long gone and dead and has been for sometime. Apathy reigns supreme
3). I'm getting too old to care anymore - just watch the games and enjoy.

1. Yep. And it's all very reactionary. If your favorite team didn't get into the BCS national championship game, let's change the formula so that your team SHOULD HAVE made it. See? Now it's better and fixed. I don't have a resolution, since you won't find the flaws in a system until the flaws punch you in the nuts.
2. Agreed. I used to love bowl season. I'd watch pretty much every game. When all the jerks out there were whining about the number of bowl games, I was in here complaining because I found 1 night that didn't have a bowl game. When Ohio State lost to Missouri I realized the bowl season doesn't matter. And when I stepped back, I realized that it hasn't meant anything for a long time. It probably hasn't meant much since the late 90's. And even then - did it really matter much before the BCS system? And, like you said, apathy reign supreme.
3. Not me. I'm still an angry teenager. I've refused to have birthdays since the mid-90s. My son may surpass my age pretty soon.
Seriously, though, you're right. There's only so many things worth whining about, and none of them are the CFB post-season.

It's all headed for a North vs South league with about 32 teams each centered on the B1G and SEC as the divisions. Tiara left our will be a subdivision or new Division II. THE NCAA will only have control over non football sports at schools in the future

Reimagining What Ohio State’s National Championship Run Could Have Looked Like Under New College Football Playoff Seeding Format

Just sayin': Probably would have had to play Arizona State, Texas, Georgia, and Oregon in that order as opposed to Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, and Notre Dame.
