I have misplaced my pants.
1. For the record, I like the straight seeding method better.
2. The reason for this change is about the worst logic ever. Imagine if you're in a Rock/Paper/Scissors contest, best X out of Y. And in the first round, you go with Scissors, and your opponent goes with Rock. Does that mean Scissors is the worst and you should never use it again? Of course not.
I do think that conference winners should get something, though. How much fun will this board be when Notre Dame goes 11-1 and gets in over a 12-1 team that won its conference? I suppose that will be unlikely if that team is in the Big Ten or SEC, so maybe it won't be that big of a deal. Maybe the answer is to go to 16 and get rid of byes. Then, we'll see more blowouts in the first round, and people will have something new to cry about.
