Re: In 2025-26, NCAA Division I men's and women's basketball teams will have a roster limit of 15 players, regardless of scholarship status, as part of a broader settlement agreement addressing college athletics.

With the addition of Noel that makes 14, Ohio State could still add 1 more.

That is true; however, we have not heard that literally every returning player is, in fact, returning. It also remains to be seen if, in this new era, OSU is going to accept allowing walk-ons take spots that they could devote to scholarship players. Noel was not the type of player I was expecting OSU to add necessarily - to me, he's kind of like a Gabe Cupps, in the sense that he's a guy they are adding for depth who will keep the team in the game when they have to go to the bench. I still feel like this team is lacking top-tier strength and power in the post, and I'm not sure if they are going to get it.

According to Jon Rothstein, OSU has pulled out of the Battle 4 Atlantis for 2025. The 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis field (Colorado St, WKU, Wichita St, St Mary's, VCU, South Florida, Vandy and Virginia Tech) is one of the weakest in event history now, as teams are flocking to the Players Era and similar events which help contribute to NIL for the programs. OSU is expected to participate in a Players Era type event instead.

WELL, THAT’S INTERESTING. The three most valuable men’s basketball programs in America are North Carolina ($378 million), Duke ($370 million) and Indiana ($279 million). But what about the fourth?

It’s not Kansas.

It’s not UConn.

It’s not Kentucky.

It’s not Gonzaga, Louisville, Michigan State, UCLA or Villanova.

It's The Ohio State University.

According to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, Ohio State men’s basketball program is worth $262 million.

Ohio State Hoops Withdraws From Early-Season Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament

Ohio State will be searching for a different early-season tournament opportunity than initially planned.

The Buckeyes withdrew from the 2025 Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas, which is set to be held in late November, an Ohio State spokesperson confirmed to Eleven Warriors.

OSU will look for other tournaments to help boost its early-season résumé, funding and NIL efforts.

The current teams set to face off in the Battle 4 Atlantis are Virginia Tech, Saint Mary's, Vanderbilt, South Florida, VCU, Colorado State, Western Kentucky and Wichita State.

Ohio State's full 2025-26 schedule, including any tournaments that would replace its participation in the Battle 4 Atlantis, is still to be released.

Ross Bjork still has high expectations for the Ohio State basketball program

Despite another bad season, Ross Bjork believes that the Ohio State basketball program can be better.

The Ohio State basketball program has not had a good season for each of the last three seasons. They have not participated in the NCAA Tournament in any of those years. Jake Diebler thought he was going to be able to change that this season in his first year as a head coach.

Instead, he did the same thing that Chris Holtmann did the two previous years. He ended up choking away a nice start to the year and didn't make the Tournament. He has mentioned that the standard for the program should be to make the tournament every single year.

Athletic Director Ross Bjork recently talked about his expectations for the program. He believes that the team should be able to be more successful than they have been. In fact, Bjork believes that the ceiling is a lot higher for this program than what they've shown.

Ohio State AD Ross Bjork has high expectations for the Ohio State basketball program

Bjork believes that the basketball program has blue blood elements, but they have to be more consistent. He talked with Eleven Warriors about that and believes that they need to do a better job of supporting the basketball program as they do with football.

Fans have been very vocal about the fact that hiring Diebler may have been a mistake. Many, including myself, wanted Dusty May. However, I did believe Diebler deserved a shot to get the job. I just wanted May more, and it seems like that may have been the better choice.

Diebler will be facing a lot of pressure next season to be better. So far, the transfer portal haul that he has brought in leaves something to be desired. He still has work to do on that front. The good thing is that Diebler understands what the standard is for the program. It's something he embraces.

And just like that, another spot opened. Baumann is not returning.
