The refs should be full time employees and paid far better than they are. They should practice their craft all year and not having to find off season work. It's absolutely ridiculous that billion dollar organizations leave the integrity of their product in the hands of part time employees.
Part time employees with no accountability

One of the biggest benefits of making them full time is that the threat of firing their blind, stupid, ignorant asses would have teeth

He didn’t even have possession. At any rate, TCUN ended up punting anyways so it didn’t hurt Minnesota any.

What did hurt Minnesota was their decision to rush the field goal team onto the field. They should’ve ran up to the ball and did a QB sneak.
I think the decision was made before the pass was completed. When they’re running the play, the sideline knows that the plan is to get a first down to stop the clock, and since there probably wouldn‘t be the 3 seconds left to spike the ball, the FG unit will rush out while the refs are spotting the ball and moving the chains.

Once the play went all the way to the 1-yard line, going for the TD was probably the better strategy, but changing the plan there would most likely resulted in confusion and they wouldn’t have been able to keep the FG unit off the field and get a regular snap off with 2 seconds left. I was OK with the FG attempt in that situation, and they executed it brilliantly.

With 1 more second, he could switched to a spike and then run a goal line play for a possible TD in the last second.

1) EVERYTHING needs to be reviewable.
2) get rid of TV timeouts. the clock stops enough already.

Yea I don't get it on this. It's a kickoff, it's not like it's in the middle of a drive and kills momentum.

And if an onsides kick is being deployed, it means the game is probably on the line. That's exactly when you need to be able to correct a mistake.

And there's always an immediate recovery.....so there's an easy way to fix a bad call.

This is why I take a nap the first hour of Buckeye games, then turn the game on, click on "from the beginning" and zip through the commercials and the half time BS. I usually catch up with the live game about half way through the fourth quarter.

a) What's wrong with "part-time employees? Half of your child's college undergrad education is taught by "part-timers."
b) Are you suggesting the NFL/MLB arbitrators make fewer bad calls?
