It’ll be the final blow for their program IMO.

They’ll lose 3 games prior to our game I think and when we hand them their 4th they’ll start their bowl ban, their shitty recruiting kicks in, the rest of their roster graduates/moves on, and they begin a 5 year unprecedented run of 5 loss seasons
Getting shut out of the playoffs for 2-3 years will absolutely devastate them. From now on, there will be around 20 teams a year with a legit chance at the playoffs. If you have zero chance, you're pretty much done in both recruiting and the portal.

You are being awfully kind to them to so specifically choose 5 consecutive 5-loss seasons.

Yes, that is unprecedented for them

But from 2008 through 2014, their losses were thus:

2008 - 9
2009 - 7
2010 - 6
2011 - 2
2012 - 5
2013 - 6
2014 - 7

So... A 3 season, 5 loss streak (2 losses) Another 3 season, 5 loss streak

2017 was a 5 loss season
2019 was a 4 loss season
In 2020 they were staring down the barrel of a 5-loss season, but pussied out to go 2-4 because no one called it what it was... a forfeit.

From 2008 through 2020 they averaged 4.92 losses per season. If you call the forfeit of 2020 what it was, then for that span they averaged EXACTLY 5 losses per season.

Let's face it: 5 consecutive 5-loss seasons might be unprecedented for them, but 5-losses was damn near their identity before they started cheating

Nice, ok then they’re just retreating to their mean average lol

Oh my God. The most Michigan thing ever. Thinking you're too good to need an NIL program in 2024. I always assumed they lacked initiative in getting one set up.....not that they had the means but choose not to.

If any program was ever going to die because of arrogance, please let it be this one.
Who is Tony Gerdeman? I thought the whole point of that was to make the whole "Ponies and Stallions" joke, as well as to call M*ch*gan out for the cheating.
But you're right - the third joke may be at their arrogance, which is very real.

He’s been covering Ohio State professionally for almost two decades at TheOzone.net and now for BuckeyeHuddle.
Thanks. The name was familiar but I don't remember names very well. When you jerks change your avatars I think you're a new poster. I also don't go to TheOzone or BuckeyeHuddle. (I feel like I'm cheating on Buckeyeplanet when I go to ElevenWarriors.)

Michigan learning why the Ohio State football program was fine letting Tony Alford go

Tony Alford left the Ohio State football program in the middle of Spring for Michigan. TTUN is learning why the Buckeyes weren't broken up with him leaving.

Tony Alford left the Ohio State football program in the middle of Spring practice for the Buckeyes' hated rivals. Michigan now employs Alford as their running backs coach. A lot of Michigan fans were excited to take a coach away from Ohio State and they thought he was a great steal.

What TTUN fans neglected to acknowledge is the fact that Alford had been on the hot seat for a while. Ryan Day almost let him go in the offseason before Spring practice even started. Why would a head coach consider letting someone go if he's such a great hire?

Michigan fans are now realizing why the Buckeyes were perfectly fine with letting him go. The Wolverines just recently lost a running back recruit to Kentucky. That's right, Kentucky. They lost out on four-star running back recruit Marquise Davis to the Wildcats.

Alford had issues recruiting while he was with the Ohio State football program after he landed TreVeyon Henderson. He wasn't able to follow up that success with another five-star running back. In fact, Henderson was the last five-star running back he was able to bring in.

It wasn't just the recruiting that was a problem. It was the lack of development with prospects at that position. There's a reason Miyan Williams just went undrafted and still hasn't signed with a team. There's a reason Ryan Day had to go into the transfer portal to grab Trey Sermon for their 2020 run.

OK. But then how long does it take Day to pull the trigger on coaches not getting the job done? This is not the first time I’ve questioned that.
