2024 Ohio High School Playoffs

D1 Region 3 is going to be fun to see how it shakes out. 13 teams with 6-4 or better records (and like 9 of them are 8-2)....

Never seen D1 and every region be such a toss up as it is this year. There is no team you can call a true favorite anywhere among them. Should make for a very fun and chaotic first round....I could see a 1/16 upset with Mentor (1) vs. St. Ignatius (16). They played early this season and Mentor won by only 6 and while they are 10-0 it's been against a relative cake walk. R3 is the best region by a fair amount in D1 imo.

It should be interesting to see it all shake out. I have a few guesses (bet on Olentangy Liberty and Pick Central early on) but after that, seeds 3-12 or so could play out in pretty much any possible way.

Keep an eye out for Whitmer and Jackson in Region 1 too. As always Moeller and Lakota West will roll through Region 4. Region 2 is going to be a dogfight but there isn't really a clear front runner there either.

A major advantage Hoban has.. is the number of times they have been to the show
And that has value when the games get bigger

That is true, but D2 is deep, deep, deep this year. Avon, Walsh (who already beat Hoban this year), Massillon, Anderson and so many more. D2 is consistently the most interesting come playoff time. I will say that Hoban's somewhat recent 20-0 win over Glenville was very dominant and impressive.

So they actually had THREE TEAMS decline the 16th spot so Fort Recovery actually opted into the game, even though they lost 62-0 earlier this month to Marion Local. Lockland, Cedarville, and New Miami declined...
They declined because they didn't want to play Marion?
"Hey Coach, I hear we made the playoffs!" "Nah, I declined the invite. Come back next summer."

OHSAA Football Playoffs Info

This is a great page to track as it has all the matchups, locations, times, brackets, etc. etc.
So there's 4 16-team brackets in Division 3, correct? Possible 6 games to win the state championships? Am I reading this correctly?
