So if a space ship leaving earth and heading toward Mars is traveling at Earth speed, and another space ship is leaving Mars and heading toward earth traveling at Martian speed, where will they pass each other?

No, but let's try it this way: So if a space ship leaving earth and heading toward Mars will reach Mars in 185 Earth days, and another space ship is leaving Mars and heading toward earth will arrive in 203 days, where will they pass each other?

If they each follow the most efficient path for their respective trips (the math is basically a modified Hohmann Transfer) then they are very unlikely to come anywhere near each other.
