They shoulda went to 8 and stopped there. The 2nd round games should mostly be competitive this year. It’s gonna be a year to year thing but there’s likely going to be the fair share of snoozers in most seasons

Yes, I griped about that here a few years ago. Competitive games were rare. I also bitched about the fact that that same teams making it to the playoffs every year was getting old. An ideal format might not be possible.

It’s not possible. It’s likely only going to get worse too. Eventually it’ll work it’s way to 16 and ultimately 24

I don't think you fix the problem with the 2nd sentence by using the process of the 3rd sentence. Rankings are too biased (i.e. SEC circle-jerk). At least auto-bids take subjectivity out of it.

Conference title games need to go but that cash cow is not being sacrificed to the corporate overlords.
