2024 College Football Playoffs Discussion (12 Team Format)

They probably won't because in the operating agreement of that LLC, their first two years needed unanimous agreement to make changes.

After that, operating control (and majority of revenue) goes to SEC and B1G.

Look for the big changes after two years of learning in the 2026 playoff.
Alright, Smarty-Pants, what's a million plus a million?

They definitely need to rework the system

I'd argue that games should be played @ the highest seed until the final, but the corporate bowl sponsors would never allow that. If Oregon won they woulda basically played a defacto road game against the #5 seed at the Cotton Bowl against Texas as the #1 seed.

The conference champ BYE thing needs to completely go away, the top 4 should get the BYEs and then just seed everyone according to ranking. The #1 seed got put at a disadvantage this year because of how things were set up.
Ditto.

With the Championship game always played at the Rose Bowl.

Seeing as the teams with byes could very well go 0-4 they might as well expand the playoff to 16 with the order based completely on the ranking order rather than conference champs getting a bump.
I wondered about the impact of the bye week being more beneficial than harmful when questioning the purpose of a team wanting to play in a conference title game. People argued with me about the bye week being the incentive and cited NFL playoff bye week as an example of why it's important for team. But I think one week off is different than the bye week of the CFP structure and isn't apples to apples.

One year sample size is too small to make a definitive conclusion about it. Also 2 teams who received the bye were clear underdogs and likely would've lost if the roles had been reveresed and Pedo St and wHorns Down had the bye instead (Yes I know ASU played Texass close, but I think the talent disparity reared its head in the game ultimately and would rear its head into it 10/10 games even though Texas wouldn't likely beat them 10 times if they played 10 times, but they would likely win it more often than not due to talent and depth).
