2024-2025 College Basketball General Discussion

Ho-leee shit.
"Xavier went to Providence as a 1.5 favorite and took the lead into halftime, 45-30. They got fucking dismantled in the second half, 31-8 and lost the game 61-53!!"

8. Yes, 8 total freaking points by a DI team and a pretty good one at that usually. Yikes

Edit: Nevermind, I should have double checked that. DraftKings paid it out as a win for Providence with exactly what I wrote on here but the game hadn't even ended yet. What a bunch of hacks!!

Congrats to Kofi but am I missing where he was generationally great? Where he won any hardware?

Does Illinois put everyone’s numbers up? He is a one (1) time first team All American. One regular season Big Ten title, one tournament title and no Sweet Sixteens.

Wow. I didn't think Cockburn was all that great, but you can't argue with 1st team AA. I think most programs will put you up in the rafters once you've earned 1st team AA status.

Another random musing. Queens College had a player, Chris Ashby, who shot 13 threes tonight (7/13, good!). But that’s only HALF the attemps he put up in a game last week.

Ashby went 9 of 26 (!!!) from 3 in a 63-47 win. He was 0/1 on his lone 2p attempt.

Damn, BYU stomped a mud hole in Kansas' ass! 91-57. Go Cougs
Starting to wonder if Bill Self's time has passed. This is the second straight year they came into the season ranked #1 then massively underachieved and it's not like the Big 12 is loaded. After winning 14 straight conference titles from 2005-2018, they will have won their conference just 3 of the last 7 years now.

Started fast last season, then went just 10-10 in their last 20 and now after starting 7-0 this season, they've gone 10-9. Something's rotten in Lawrence.

Has NIL changed the landscape more in CBB than other sports?

Rat face fuck also bailed because of it imo.

I think so. Transfers in CBB seem to be just as rampant as CFB and with the smaller roster size, the impact is even greater. The prestige of playing for a KU, UNC, etc. isn't what it was when you have middle-of-the-road programs that offer a more attractive NIL package.

I also think the gap between mid majors and elite programs is much smaller in CBB than football. So getting a transfer from a smaller program doesn't have as much of a learning curve.

Thad bests Holtmann in battle of former Ohio State basketball coaches

Sure, other fanbases might have viewed Saturday's game as a contest between DePaul and Butler, but to Ohio State hoops fans, it was a battle between two former Ohio State coaches: Thad Matta and Chris Holtmann.

In the end, Matta's squad outlasted Holtmann's, with Butler winning 84-72. DePaul had a lead with less than six minutes remaining in the contest, so the matchup was competitive for most of the night.
