There are currently zero B1G teams that are in the top-10 of KenPom. While Oregon is ranked #9 in the polls, #11 UCLA is currently the highest ranked B1G team in KenPom. This is a year where there is no clear favorite to win the B1G. I would lean to Maryland from what I have seen, but there are several teams in the mix. Oregon has been a pleasant surprise for the conference, as they managed to beat Texas A&M and Alabama in nonconference play. Illinois, Purdue, MSU, UM and OSU also should make some noise in the conference this season. IU is looking like the biggest disappointment thus far. Any other team making a run at the league title will earn their coach the Coach of the Year award.

ESPN announcers for the Florida-Kentucky game were pumping SEC strength of conference narrative hard. Predicting 12 teams in the NCAA tournament. I guess ESPN is applying the football marketing strategy to basketball as well.

The SEC won the ACC-SEC basketball challenge 14-2. Who knows, we might be up in basketball this year the same way we are currently down in football. It will all work itself out by March.
