They keep saying "rogue staffer" as though that exonerates everyone else. He was so "rogue" that the head coach, and both coordinators, listened to him during games.

"He's a rogue staffer!" (He's not, and it wouldn't matter)
"There's no advantage!" (Then why do it?)
"Ryan Day is behind it!" (Behind what, exposing your cheating? Again, it wouldn't matter)

I have less faith in the Big 10 doing anything as time goes on. And it's been accurately pointed out that the NCAA and CFP committee don't have the means to expedite any judgement. So "Due Process" is going to be Left to the Buckeyes on November 25th. I seriously want this win more than I wanted the wins against Miami and Oregon for the Natty. I know that may be controversial, but Damnit, the best way to put those cheating bastards in their place is to beat them in their own stadium and leave them weeping on the field to await their eventual "official" punishment. It's appropriate that the game is at High Noon in their street. Bring your pistols, bitches!

I guess it's kinda like... say I break into my neighbor's house. Maybe I want to rob him. I break in, hack the security system, whatever. While grabbing the laptop and the big screen TV, I notice the 2 little kids tied up in the closet. I call the cops and get him arrested. Yeah, I should probably get punished for breaking and entering and attempting to steal property. But that doesn't change the fact that my neighbor had kidnapped 2 little kids.

Best case scenario is that Ohio State wins on the field, and M*ch*gan is left to watch the playoffs on TV.

But... someone else has the power to keep M*ch*gan out: the playoff committee. They are under no obligation to vote them in, under any circumstances. It's made up of 12 or so people who just need to grow some balls. I mean, if 2 of them decide to do what's right, they can keep M*ch*gan out of the playoffs. I apologize for the math, but watch this.. I know the committee doesn't vote the same way the other polls do, but say it's the same. If all 12 pick Team A #1, Team B #2, Team C #3, and Team D #4, Team A gets 25 x 12 = 300 points, Team B gets 288, Team C gets 276, and Team D gets 264. Now, say 2 of those 12 pick Team A to be #25, and those voters move everyone else up accordingly. Team A now gets 25 x 10 + 1 x 2 = 252. Team B would get 290, Team C would get 278, Team D would get 266, and Team E would get 254.

Of course, the voting wouldn't go that smoothly in real life, so you'd need probably 2 more voters to help out.

Also, more importantly, that's not how the playoff committee works, if I remember correctly. So it may be tougher to keep them out if only 4 voters grow a conscience.

Since red rubies are a thing of the past, I will give my take on the ON3 report.

IF (as in IF) this is true it very much changes my perception of things. I suppose it is OK to encourage an investigation, but certainly not to include information obtained illegally. Further, IF (as in IF) Ryan Day is behind this I would feel a lot better if he stepped forward and owned it.

Right now this is just a report with little or no backup. You know, like the reports we have all (myself included) been running with for the past two weeks.

I don't think this is accurate. But the identify of the external entity triggering the whole mess has been at the top of my list of questions from the start.

I don't mind rooting for Penn State. Their fans make me feel bad that we're all the same species, but the team isn't Ohio State's rival. They're like Purdue or Iowa or Minnesota. I mean, except their record against Ohio State recently is worse than Purdue's record against Ohio State, so... they're more harmless.
I tend to root for whatever outcome helps Ohio State, with the default being "screw M*ch*gan". But that meant rooting for M*ch*gan in 2005 over Penn State. This year, it means rooting for Penn State. And that was before all this cheating stuff came to light.

Considering the evidence that we've actually seen (not the stuff we've heard rumors of), it doesn't seem plausible that a PI firm would have bothered doing anything illegal to gather evidence.

Suppose that:
1) Ohio State suspected sign stealing
2) Hired a PI firm to gather proof
3) Said PI firm looked into it and found the mountains of evidence we've seen without trying all that hard

What PI firm, with that mountain of evidence in hand, would then say, "You know what we ought to do? We should risk jail time and do something illegal to gather evidence of something that we already have dispositive evidence for."

It would amaze me that they're acting like if OSU are the ones who called for the investigation it somehow makes them innocent. But we are dealing with tunc fans, so...
