Ohio State announces fall camp viewing period for fans, Q&A with Ryan Day​

There's a unique opportunity for Buckeye fans this preseason.​

Ohio State fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for the 2023 football season. The Buckeyes once again have one of the most talented rosters in the country and hope to challenge for the Big Ten title and return to the College Football Playoff. Now add another reason for fans to be excited for the preseason.

The Scarlet and Gray announced on Wednesday morning that fans will have the opportunity to watch Ohio State practice during fall camp as a part of the Ohio State Football Kickoff Week. Additionally, fans can also attend a kick off luncheon that will feature Buckeye head coach Ryan Day and members of the Scarlet and Gray staff. Fans will be able to purchase viewing periods for two specific practices during Ohio State's preseason as well as tickets to the luncheon.

For the fans who are interested in attending these practices, the first viewing period will take place during the Buckeyes' first practice of fall camp on Thursday, Aug. 3 followed by another viewing window on Friday, Aug. 4. Five hundred tickets will be released for each practice session with a limit of five tickets per fan. Gates for each practice session will open at 8:30 a.m. ET and practice will begin at approximately 9:15 a.m. ET.

Tickets to attend these practices will be $30 and will include a commemorative 2023 Ohio State training camp hat. These tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 20 and will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis. Fans can purchase tickets for the practice.

The kick off luncheon will take place on Friday, Aug. 4 from noon-1:30 p.m. ET. Day will speak followed by an in-depth Q&A session with the head coach and the Buckeye assistant coaches. Tables of eight for the luncheon can be purchased for $2,500. Ohio State asks those who are interested to reserve their table by July 28 by visiting the event registration page at https://cbo.io/tickets/osukickoff/tix. That is not what I wanted to hear....Tyleik needs to be healthy for most of the season for this defense to thrive. Hopefully it is something minor and just a precautionary move, but can't miss too many reps or else he will not be in game-shape like in year's past.

Day says they’re practicing the two deep at OT on both sides of the ball—hopefully that’s because Josh Simmons has been really good and they think he can play LT, and not because Fryar has been really bad and they’re scrambling.

Seems like the staff likes Simmons so far, but I would imagine it is a depth issue. Fryar goes down and you want at least two game-ready guys behind him at LT. I would bet on a healthy Fryar starting at LT, but there definitely needs to be a contingency plan.

Quick edit - I also think Simmons may be a more natural fit at LT than Fryar, so if he is ready to play this year I guess Fryar at RT and Simmons at LT wouldn't surprise me. Same goes for Zen really. I suppose having Tegra play some LT to learn the position wouldn't hurt, but I think he is a pure RT. Just need the best guy to step up there though.
