2023-2024 Ohio State Men's Basketball (apathy, depression, hope?)

Fuck man. I'm sad. The boys deserved better all year.
Honestly crazy how much behind the 8 ball Holtmann put them too. Trying not to dance on his grave but…this was clearly clearly a tournament team. Battled so hard and now for it to end like this. Just gutted.

Wish the kids would have a chance to make a run in the big one.

We should all remember one team last night was playing with less than 24 hours rest, the other wasn't. That is showed in the last five minutes should not be seen as softness. Holtmann failed and he failed badly. Anyone who questioned the decision to fire him has been silenced.

Let's see how they do in the post-season, even if it turns out to be NIT. If it's a good run, give Diebler the job.

Less and less people care about the NIT every year. Teams are preemptively opting out, many players opt out. The NIT cannot be a meaningful measuring stick for OSU basketball.

Sure, but the players themselves still want to keep playing, even in the NIT. Pretty awesome to see them still hungry to wear the S&G.

I don't think anyone said it was. It's about rebuilding a winning culture on the team and retention for next year. They need to play together and win together.

Ohio State actually moved up from 53 to 50 in the NET with the loss had they won would be where ? Pretty sick that will probably be the difference between in and out though they have been a couple bid stealers which hurt plus a few teams playing their way in and a couple still in play in Oregon and NC State that would not get in if they lose tonight.

Just really frustrating for a team that looked like it had no chance and looked like it didn't care (along with us fans who stopped caring) to turn it around in epic ways to come this close then fall short.

Tough pill to swallow.

Gainja can suck a dick! Asshole literally shoved off every damn time underneath! Beef up the big white kid we got from St. Mary’s to 300 lbs and tell him to just shove every fucking time he gets the ball underneath. And while I’m at it, fuck the NCAA committee. This team deserves to be in over 2/3 of the fuckers that will make it.
Him and Shannon both. Shannon just ran like a bull in a China shop and looked at the refs for a call before he even started...and they fucking gave it to him. For the record, I have not blamed officiating once this season but an ace is an ace and a spade is a spade...that crew should be fucking fired and then fined on top of it for whatever the hell happened out there. I mean, I know this is an OSU site and I follow all the OSU accounts, but when every fan is decrying the officiating it is obvious it is because it was that bad...even Hummel, the ultimate OSU hater, started doubting calls.

I will say this...Diebler should get the job. I wanted to see the end-product after the Purdue win and I have seen enough to say he deserves a 1-year contract. We have looked like a different team under him in all the right ways.

yeah I went from nah to maybe. To fuck them refs he should have lead this team to the NCAA's and made it impossible not to hire him.

I'd give him more than a 1 year deal cause you will no way get a real recruiting test from 1 year deal cause the deal itself with hurt his recruiting but I'd make it team friendly to opt out after 2 if it's not working.

I realize the second half officiating vs Illinois was big, but one of the absolute worst calls in the game was in the first half when Royal had the ball, handed it to the OSU player who ran past him, and even though he had been stationary he got called for a foul as Shannon ran into him. Absolute horseshit call, Royal's second foul. Of course Robbie Hummel liked the call, claiming Royal "turned into him" after Shannon crashed into Royal and made him turn.
